Even San Francisco, a liberal bastion and conservative punching bag, has found itself caught up in the nation’s rightward shift.

More than 15% of the city’s voters cast their ballot for Donald Trump in last week’s election, compared with 9.3% when he first ran in 2016, according to data from the California Secretary of State. It was the highest share for a Republican presidential candidate in San Francisco in 20 years.

It's interesting to see the polar opposite differences in the san fran'ers who post here...one sane, thoughtful, clearly hopeful for the future.... The other....

To be clear SF is still blue as blue can get. But yes, Trump did gain in the City and I believe it was Asian voters who were the driver of this growth.

(What was crazy is he held a rally in/near the City during the campaign and not only did it get a good sized turnout the most painful part for the progressive writer covering for the Chronicle was he had to acknowledge how diverse it was.)
