Pelosi ticks off House Dems with November press tour​


Nancy Pelosi is ticking off House Democrats for publicly opining on what her party did wrong in 2024.

  • "She needs to take a seat," said one senior Democrat lawmaker.
  • "Making scattershot comments is not just unhelpful, it's damaging," said another lawmaker.
  • "Hakeem has been tremendously graceful and respectful of her, but I don't think she is being respectful of him," said a member of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Mounting frustration with Pelosi exists in the conversations among House Democrats in various corners of the caucus.
  • The trouble started when Pelosi sought an interview with The New York Times in which she suggested Joe Biden should have dropped out of the race sooner.
  • Had that happened, "there may have been other candidates in the race," she said.
  • Her comments ignited another round of finger-pointing and blame-shifting between the Biden and Harris camps.
Many of Pelosi's Democrat colleagues privately cheered when she asserted her will over the party by helping to push Biden out.
  • Pelosi didn't appear to care that Biden's feelings were hurt. "We just have to win," she said.
  • On Pelosi's home turf of California, Democrats hoped to knock off five Republicans. So far, they have only taken out one.
The bottom line: Democrats are clearly frustrated Pelosi isn't 'fading into the sunset' like she promised when she lost the gavel two years ago.

If she's losing some influence in her '80s, it's not really a big story or anything.

If something is unworthy of discussion, I generally don't bother to dignify it by commenting. I find your eagerness to discuss the issue contradicts your assumed indifference to it. Logical, eh?

When someone comments, are they always displaying "eagerness?"

I comment on small stories, and big ones. I wasn't eager. I just commented. It has nothing to do w/ dignity - just setting the record straight.
 

Fetterman blasts Pelosi over Biden race exit: 'You got what you wanted'​



Nancy Pelosi blamed President Joe Biden for Vice President Kamala Harris’s failure to win the presidential election, saying his late decision to exit the race didn’t give Democrats enough time to organize an “open primary.”

Sen. Fetterman isaid Rep. Pelosi’s public comments on the situation appear hypocritical.

“People like Pelosi, she really tried to — what’s the word I’m looking for? — she embraced this ‘she’s the godmother, she’s the enforcer,’” Sen. Fetterman said. “And now she’s blaming Biden. Well, you can’t have it both ways. You got what you wanted, and now you’re still blaming Biden.”

He also addressed Rep. Pelosi’s longevity in the House, saying she should relinquish power to a younger generation.
