Come on folks, yelling "nigger" at a US Congressman and a man who worked so hard for the Civil Rights movement and was almost beaten to death in Alabama.

I understand the emotion, and agree with many of the stated goals of the Tea Party. But if they don't come down hard against this sort of redneck ignorance, they are going to lose big.

And yelling "faggot" at Barny Frank? Pretty low, in my opinion.

That's not what I said and you know it, stop being so deliberately obtuse about this. We simply cannot allow them to be the only voice heard. They cannot be allowed to be the "voice" of the TEA Party movement or all it does is ensure nobody will hear the message.

Tht is not the point of Damo's post or of mine.

The point is that the Tea Members need to decide who they want as members. Going for sheer numbers and taking everyone is not going to work.

And the conservative leadership needs to distance themselves from these fools.

This is what I don't get. This has gotten so extreme that Yurt thinks someone is weak if they won't vote a certain way because they called "a name". Others think it is ok to spit on someone. Shouting down and being shitty to old people with Parkinson's is fine also. Eventually someone is going to seriously beat a supporter of healthcare and that will just be the "emotions" of the issue, and it is going to be the tactics of the "oath keepers", men who took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution to kill the families of people who voted for or supported the healthcare bill. These are the tactics of crazy people. People who are so mad they lost an election they are unable to wait for the next election. Instead they want to resort to thugish tactics. This is not how Americans participate in the political system. If the tea party members would call a sitting member of of congress a nigger you KNOW they are calling the president that as well.

More justification. It's ok to spit on people and call them nigger and if you don't like it and try to do or say something about it we will act like a gang and stomp you. You righties can't even fight for yourself one on one. You have to become gangs. You and Yurt have said nothing about the behavior. I have to think that as right leaning people the two of you are still fairly reasonable. I have even told you so before. But now BOTH of you don't try to distance yourself from thugs and racists, instead you embrace them, say that congressmen should have thicker skin and accept being spit on. I almost hope your side does beat someone badly, I hope that they kill some old person who supports this. This movement needs to die so that smarter, more rational people take over. The Tea Party movement is at the very least passively allowing this behavior in its name. That is the same as being in support of it.
