Tea Party members - This is NOT the way to win an argument

Tht is not the point of Damo's post or of mine.

The point is that the Tea Members need to decide who they want as members. Going for sheer numbers and taking everyone is not going to work.

And the conservative leadership needs to distance themselves from these fools.

WTF? How do you have a rally and "know" who might be in the crowd to yell some epitath? The fact that the media has continually only focused on the fringe nutters at these events cannot be controled by anyone other than the media!

And to the further point made ...who's to say it was not some plant in order to make the group as a whole look bad?

All the teabagger picture again looked Lilly white. Failed GED types like sty wanted to fix blame elsewhere for their lazyness.

What a srupid racist comment. It is painfully obvious to everyone who suffers reading your tripe that any diploma you received was obtained via the internet...fucking loser!

Yes I do say that when a member of some Dems group shouts or does something out of line. I have ridiculed the liberals numerous times for their "everyone is invited" rhetoric when it includes nutcases.

What I am talking about is responsible leadership, even from a grassroots group. When people (it was reportedly a chant from numerous members) start shouting shit like this, the Tea Party leadership needs to step up and condemn it harshly. They need to speak out and let their members know that this is NOT what the movement stands for, and that they will not tolerate such behavior.

I am not saying we remove anyone's right to free speech. But the organization that they were a part of during this protest can either condemn it or be seen to condone it. There is not much middle ground.

Tea Party Leader, GOP Condemn Racial Slurs Hurled at Black Lawmakers

Republican National Chairman Michael Steele and one of the organizers of Saturday's Tea Party rally strongly condemned the racial slurs that some black lawmakers alleged were yelled at them by some health care protesters as they headed for a procedural vote at Capitol Hill.

First of all, the article I read claimed it was numerous people.

Second of all, I am not saying that anyone knows who is there. I am saying that the leadership needs to come out hard against the things that were said. I am saying that the leadership saying nothing looks like they condone the activities.

That is so true. Problem for any rally, how to get rid of the nutters. The video shows that it was 1 or 2, yet they 'illustrate' the movement out of thousands.
No the problem is that NO ONE in a position of leadership is saying, "you racists, you thugs, if you spit on people or use racial epithets, we reject you. If you threaten to use guns if our side loses this political debate, we reject you." Because truth be known, they like the thugs, they like people to be afraid. It can chill the debate without the chill coming from the "official face" of the Tea Party movement.

Good, now Steele should tell them to go home, to stay home, that they are not welcome.

Democrats will make a quantum leap in popularity if this passes. It'll be the best comedy to continue to here the teabaggers whine about it. P.S. Most teabaggers have mandated auto insurance for themselves and their cousin wives.

Color me totally not shocked.

Up until now, any lefty was pretty much laughed off who pointed out that the teabaggers are virtually 100% white, are peppered with white extremists, and festoon themselves with violent imagery like guns, and allusions to secession.

Sorry teabaggers, people like Taichi, Desh and others called this out a long time ago. I don’t think the majority of teabaggers are neoconfederate racists. But they are enablers of the latent racism and extremism that is encouraged within their tea bag movement. If one either encourage this shit, or stand by in silence while your fellow teabaggers are yelling nigger and faggot at fellow Americans, you’re pretty much as guilty as they are. Here’s a tip: The tea bag party has already, in large measure, founded itself and built itself on the backs of extremism; they aren’t going to purge themselves, in any substantive way, of extremists. Clucking of tongues, and sad shaking of heads isn't going to fundementally change the Tea Bag Party.

The one caveat I’ll add is that I don’t place all the blame on the Dixie’s and Webbways for driving the tea bag movement over the cliff in a frenzy of racism, gun worship, threats of secession, and rightwing extremism.

The elites in the rightwing media have gleefully been pouring fuel on this fire. The non-stop chants about “Marxism-socialism”, about fake Hawaiian birth certificates, about Obama being a fifth column secret Muslim, etc…….all that shit is intended to inflame and to subtly tie Obama to subconcious imagery related black radicalism.

Obama is more conservative or centrist than Dennis Kucinich, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, or Howard Dean. These white lefties would never be subject to this level of rightwing buffoonery; i.e., the guns, the threats of secession, the racially-charged signs. Clearly, as many of us have pointed out for the last year, it’s because, the media and blog conservatives – the ones who are smart enough to manipulate the tea baggers- have made a concerted effort to fear monger the under educated teabaggers into the idiotic perception that they are somehow making their last stand; their Dunkirk in the face of a wave of socialism, Marxism, and black radicalism. As such, the rightwing elites are pretty much as much to blame as the Dixie-types in the Tea Bag Party.

:clink: Amen to that!

The teabaggers look almost as bad as the widestancers. So whoever whipped the white trash into this frenzy fucked the republicans well.
