219-212... Health Care Bill Passes..

It does speak volumes about the conservative movement that they care more about an immoral war in the middle east then what is in the best interest of their fellow citizens. But I guess that goes with out saying or we would have never invaded Iraq in the first place.

Obama will be very loud about the troops leaving Iraq conveniently around election time.

That's retarded. If people do not have coverage because it is too expensive (the main reason that was argued), why isn't price control step one?

because it's a bullshit victory even though a huge one. Obama knows dem males are huge pussies. How else would he be able to whoop all of them easily after just a few years in.

That's a good question Billy. The answer is because first you must establish how financing is going to be managed before you can address the issue of cost because financing is a large part of what drives up cost. Until you fix the financing problem you can't really address the issue of cost. Otherwise you're putting the cart before the horse.

Hey....and that will pay for about half of the health care reform bill won't it? Between that and letting the Bush tax cuts expire HC reform has been paid for and we've decreased the budget deficit by more than 500 billion.

Not so much.....unless that plan involves downsizing the military significantly.

A significant portion of the troops in Iraq are reservists. When they get home they will go back to costing Uncle Sam a few hundred a month, instead of the thousands being spent now.

Of course, they will come back to unemployment lines, but hey...

Which will end up costing more. Not that it matters though, since the government currently isn't paying a damned thing. If anything they'll MAKE money of this deal, since it penalizes those who can't afford insurance, by fining them or criminalizing them. Damnedest thing eh?

How about this government hiring 16,000 new IRS agents to enforce this?
I remember when they were trying to say that nobody ever "puts in the enforcement" into a bill back when we were saying they took out any way to enforce that no illegal immigrant would get this, yet they put in that the IRS will have a role in enforcing the health care legislation....

You're clueless on this issue Damo. The major contradiction in your argument is "Why have the insurance industry lobbied so hard against this?"
Because they didn't. They lobbied against parts of the bill, but not against the fed requirement to purchase. It's silly to ignore that. You just hear the Ds repeating something and start nodding like a bobble-head.

If the IRS has a role it'll be good for accountants and finance types who are already one of the highest job growth areas for the next decade.

Yaaay, not only will they play a part in your bank account, now the IRS plays a part in your medical choices... Superfantastic!

According to topspin, it can only be better... 1984, here we come.

I'm greedy, I'm glad there will be more finance and accounting jobs. And I'm glad that republitards strategy is aimed at pleasing the pope. Your poll numbers are in the teens and falling.

you never studied biology I see.....instead of criticizing folks as being GED trained you ought to have gone back for your GED yourself.....

Bottom line: this bill is swiss cheese....but it's better than no cheese at all.

The neocon driven GOP made this Obama's Waterloo....only they didn't realize that Bohner and DeMint were vying for the role of Bonaparte! Man, the anti-Obama lies and BS rhetoric is going to go into overdrive now....much to my entertainment!

Dude... they aren't pissed. You'd be thrilled, just like they are, if you had a law that forced people to buy your product. Imagine, next time there is a downturn in the car market we can just pass a law that forces people to buy a new GM car... there's precedent.

Okay, the car analogy is just absurd and not worth delving into.

But with regards to the insurance companies....yeah, they're a bit pissed , because the product they are selling IS NOT THE SAME OLD PRODUCT...and that effects their projected profits. Also, the stipulations attached to all these new clients REALLY puts their panties in a bunch. I learned long ago two things: people with money will pinch a penny whenever they can, and people with money really hate losing out on projected profits.
