President-elect Donald J. Trump’s support for Pete Hegseth, who he announced as his nominee for defense secretary shortly after Election Day, is wobbling after a crush of controversy over a rape allegation and a 2018 email from Mr. Hegseth’s mother accusing him of a pattern of abuse toward women.

How Mr. Hegseth fares through a series of tests on Wednesday will be critical for his chances. He is set to continue his meetings with key senators, including Joni Ernst of Iowa, a combat veteran who has spoken about being sexually assaulted herself, and his mother is expected to sit for an interview on Fox News. Trump may replace Hegseth with DeSantis​

President-elect Trump is rumored to be considering replacing his Defense Secretary pick, former Fox News personality Pete Hegseth, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Trump is mulling another Cabinet pick switch-up as Republican Senators have concerns about sexual assault allegations against Hegseth.

If he were to choose DeSantis, it would be a shocking turn for the president-elect.

The Florida Governor ran a GOP presidential primary bid against Trump, and the two traded insults during the campaign. Still, the Journal noted that DeSantis was a well-known conservative who served in the military.

Hegseth is facing growing scrutiny from GOP senators after new revelations over the weekend included allegations of alcohol abuse and previous sexual misconduct.
 
Pete's mom 100% supports Pete and says he is a great father and a good husband smart as a whip and has put his life on the line for the US twice and loves veterans and this country. That is a pretty good endorsement. I hope the Senators watch her interview. BTW She apologized to Pete two hours after she wrote the email.
 
Runt DeShameless would be every bit the trump toady and ass licker as Hogbreath would be, but one hopes that he'd not be quite as dismissive of the law in doing so.

Barely more qualified for the job though, and the lesser of two evils at best.

She is going to Capitol hill to talk with Senators today. She gave several reasons why she thinks Pete is a good choice. He has put his life on the line for this country in Afghanistan AND Syria. He has two Bronze Stars. He is smart with degrees from Princeton and Harvard, he is a good father and a good son. He loves this country and the military. He would be a good person to lead the military. Her email was written in anger and retracted two hours later. She does not think Pete abuses women.

Pete would be an upgrade from Loyd Austin.
