Part of the problem was messaging; Trump successfully sold that the economy was in the shitter even though the numbers didn't back him up. The MAGAts kept screaming about past inflation rates and the Democrats failed to successfully point out that the cause was due to the COVID pandemic and subsequent global recovery.
