Migrants are not a homogenized bloc, sex pest.

Some migrants are good, some are bad.

There's about as much sense in saying all of 'em are a "strength" as there is in saying the weather is.

Infantilizing all migrants can be as societally counterproductive as demonizing them.

Leftists disapprove of legal, intelligent immigrants.

Not at all. I've worked beside MANY H1B Visa folks. All good people. All highly skilled.

But corporations, especially TECH, like to use H1B visas to keep wages low. H1B Visa holders are essentially "hostage" to the company that hires them and pays their H1B Visa fees. In order to change jobs they have to find a way for the new employer to pay for the H1B Visa. So they kind of "lock them in" for a while. THEN they tend to pay them LESS than an equivalent American. They don't negotiate higher and the employer pretty much holds the cards.

So the real threat to middle class working Americans ISN'T the poor dude busting his back doing lawncare but rather the H1B Visa holder who is brought here not so much to help our industry but rather to keep wages for all workers in that field LOWER.

H1B Visas are useful. No doubt about it. But H1B visas are OFTEN used NOT for good but rather things which harm you and I.

Thirty years ago, I was offered a $50k bonus to train my South Asian replacement. Unemployment benefits doubled the next year. White-collar workers are dropping like flies -- the middle-class is shrinking.

Their gig economy grandkids are now dealing with the results of crony capitalism.

The fact that almost 90 percent of H1b applicants are Indian or Chinese seems consistent with that wage depression scheme.

Does it? Don't you want migrants to enter the US legally and compete for work in accordance with our free enterprise system?

Cool story. Guess what? Reportedly many jobs are going to be eliminated soon. AI.

So you agree that America is a shithole country?

Management said nothing when corporate moved factories overseas.
Management said nothing when South Asian workers took over Silicon Valley.
Management is now being laid off. Karma caught up to them.

What do you think illegal labor in the housing industry does to wages? When I was a kid a carpenter was a respectable middle class job. Now it is dominated by illegals.
