Allentown police are investigating after an item resembling a noose was found on a City Hall employee's desk Friday morning, according to officials.

Police say that at around 7:30 a.m. Friday, they were notified that a "small item resembling a noose" was found on a Black employee's desk at Allentown City Hall.

Protest planned for Monday outside City Hall after employee reported finding noose​


The demonstration is scheduled at the city’s headquarters at 435 Hamilton St., where speakers are to present “a list of demands” to city officials, according to a press release.

Allentown Police have now released information on the incident.

The Allentown Police say this matter is being taken seriously and is under active investigation.

“There’s cameras all over City Hall,” Gerlach said, noting access to the DCED office is secured. “It should be a quick investigation.”
