"The gutting of the agency has largely been overseen by Musk, the world’s richest man and a close Trump ally spearheading the president’s effort to shrink the federal bureaucracy and replace career civil servants with politically loyal appointees.

So, the rich guys says the poor need to suffer more.

"Samantha Power, a former USAid administrator argued in a New York Times opinion article on Thursday that the damage to American prestige was a boon for its foreign adversaries.

“I am not surprised that the attacks are being cheered by Moscow and Beijing,” Power wrote. “They understand what those seeking to dismantle the agency are desperate to hide from the American people: USAid has become America’s superpower in a world defined by threats that cross borders and amid growing strategic competition.”

Let's see, leftie's are angry because Republicans are going to expose billions of dollars being paid to people with zero accountability as to how that money is spent.

By Samantha Power

Ms. Power was the administrator of the United States Agency for International Development in the Biden administration.

Some investments save lives almost immediately — like the medicines dispensed to 500,000 children with H.I.V., or the nutrient-rich food manufactured in states like Rhode Island and Georgia that pulls starving children from the brink of death. Out of the $38 billion that U.S.A.I.D. spent in fiscal year 2023, nearly $20 billion was for health programs (such as those that combat malaria, tuberculosis, H.I.V./AIDS and infectious disease outbreaks) and humanitarian assistance to respond to emergencies and help stabilize war-torn regions.

"Of course, the agency I have just described bears no resemblance to the “radical left” and “criminal” phantom that Mr. Trump is slaying. In addition to extensive oversight from Congress, U.S.A.I.D. meticulously documented all of its programs and expenditures online. It is perhaps not a coincidence that one of the first acts of the men intent on killing the agency was to have the U.S.A.I.D. website go dark.

Someone predicted Musk would be the scapegoat for all the mistakes and bad policy, so far it’s only the Democrats, but when Republicans see the numbers, they’ll start blaming Musk as well.

Among the other programs that were cut was the contract to pay the guards holding the ISIS terrorists in Syria. Among the terrorists released were some with Western citizenship, who could, in theory, come to the USA. trump successfully took a precarious situation, and turned it into a disaster.

trump did this because he has zero accountability. he wastes money without thinking about it. he could have spent the time reviewing contracts, and figured out what he wanted to cut, but instead, he just stopped paying them all, and waited to see what disasters would happen. Because he did not cut the funding, there were no savings possible.
