How do you make government smaller without removing positions?

Every company removes positions to stay competitive.

This was one of the policies that President Trump ran on and is what helped elect him.

You don't go in and cut, cut ,cut first, you go in and FIND the waste and fraud THEN make the cuts you need.
The way Musk has done this has hurt a lot of people.

Elon found the source of the waste, fraud, and abuse and addressed it,,,just as he was tasked to do by the president who has the support of the American people who elected him…to do exactly what we want him to do.

Stop whining and get over it.

You and the rest of the far left loons are irrelevant.

The problem is, nobody has done this. Nobody at all. So, now we get the chainsaw... Temp fires, updates, quick action... but, something is finally being done. Our debt should not be used to permanently employ people who do nothing. This isn't even tax dollars, we incur Trillions in debt, Trillions...

Something needs to be done, and nobody was willing to do it. I prefer this to nothing at all which is what would be happening if we had business as usual and if we delayed. I hear what you are saying here, but I present to you the last 80 years of debt growth and wasteful spending without a single bit of relief as a counter argument.

NO he went it and just started cutting WITHOUT finding where the real waste and fraud REALLY was and now in some cases has to go back and try to find some of the people he fired .

The Founding Fathers eschewed big government.

It won’t be that big much longer.

The national debt is $36.22 trillion and climbing. That’s trillion with a T.

This is unsustainable and the Democrats are opposing the concept of reducing spending.

It’s past time to go big on reducing the size of government which will reduce the national debt.

There is no enumerated Constitutional right to a government job.

I don't see a lot of people saying it shouldn't be done , most people I talk to think it has to be done but it has been done in the wrong way.
Again you just don't go in gang busters and cut , cut, cut BEFORE you even look and see where the waste and fraud is.
You go in and find the waste and fraud then cut.
As we have seen they fired a lot of people and are now trying to find them and ask them to come back. and a lot of these people IMO won't come back for the reason they will always feel that their job will be on the line to be cut again.

Nonsense, they are singing how it is "their money" in protests, nobody is singing, "Do it slower, it's the motion of the ocean not the size of the prize"...

I say, do it. Otherwise it won't be done. Delay in government becomes permanent, like a temporary government program the delay never ends. They'll have to pull back on some, but ripping that bandaid off is the only way it's going to happen.

Mistakes will be made…and corrected.

If you are dissatisfied with the present administration’s policies, win a presidential election and your party can call the shots.

The Democrats are opposing this and demonstrating on the Capitol steps, singing and screaming.

Get a clue.

And IF you would go back and look you will see that a lot of these useless and wasteful programs , and large pork projects were passed when the Republicans had control of the Congress.
And as for the debt you MAGAS didn't say one word about it when Trump ran it up almost 8 Trillion dollars in four years , You cried about it when Obama ran it up 8 Trillion in 8 years but not a word about Trump doing it in 4 Years.

I am NOT saying NOT to do it I am pointing out they went in and cut , and cut and cut FIRST then went looking for the waste and fraud NOT find the waste and fraud FIRST then cut it.
IMO they did it all ass backwards.

I hear you, but I am telling you delaying will become a permanent thing, like a temporary government program. And I am telling you that saying "nobody is saying don't do it" is flat wrong. These protests aren't saying "do it slower"... These people literally think the government actually has its own money to spend. We literally borrow TRILLIONS and have done NOTHING to curb it. Now when someone is doing something to curb some of the waste in government we get protests from leftists who think the government "deserves" to spend us into further debt.

I prefer them to take any action, even if they have to pull some back, because if we delay even a moment I believe that it will never begin again. We have unsustainable debt growth, it hurts us and we have monetized the debt. All it would take to ruin us is for the US Dollar to end its role as the world currency, that's the only thing keeping us afloat now.
