stop exaggerating the war on cops

I work with cops and firefighters, I fully understand their challenges. Their protections have been eroded. Urban cities have had their police officer decimated. Again, there are crooked cops that go out seeking violence but their numbers are declining due to body cams and outside cellphone videos.
I am not arguing with you, I am just saying the vast majority of them want to go home every night not having to face a review board the following day.
What good did cellphone videos do for people like Michael Brown, George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Tyre Nichols, Eric Garner and so on, and so on, and so on...?

Cops were proven to have done their job correctly.
Cops were proven to have not done their jobs correctly and were convicted and jailed.

Ah, a demonizing da cops thread. Another Burb Brat who got s traffic ticket or DUI and now thinks all cops should die n stuff cuz they couldn't control their own impulses and got bitch slapped.

We have militarized the police, and then are shocked when they create a warzone.
Mostly in Big Blue Cities. IIRC, most of that military equipment was to protect police officers breaking into drug dens.

That was the original intent. It turns out there really are not that many fortified drug dens, so they have to find other uses for the tanks they have bought.

TBH, Democrats have often paved the road to Hell with good intentions. It goes with the Law of Unintended Consequences.

Now, with the Party of Trump, they are doing the same thing as DOGE will prove over the next 6-12 months.

Ah, the 'militarization' rubbish again. If that were even remotely true the vermin wouldn't be looting and burning down police stations, and generally tearing shit up, they would be getting what they deserved, .i.e. getting mowed down by automatic weapons and snipers.

The police uses for fully automatic weapons are so extremely limited as to be nonexistent. A machine gun is meant to indiscriminately kill hundreds of people in a field. In warfare, that makes some sense, but in policing there would be all sorts of people in that field.

A sniper is far less useful in policing than one would think. You know what is useful? Talking to people.

I'm watching the Waco mini-series. The ATF didn't have a problem with using automatic weapons on women and children. Maybe LEOs have learned something in the last 30 years.

Agreed, but they are still useful. Snipers are also good in guerilla warfare.

The ATF was being fired on by automatic fire, and returned fire with automatic fire. I doubt they aimed for women and children, but the men with guns were interspersed with the women and children. Four ATF agents were murdered.

Even when fired upon, it makes no sense for the police to use fully automatic weapons. The only way it would make sense would be if the only people at the scene were the police and the criminals, with absolutely no civilians... Which would be a very bizarre situation.

Would it make sense for the police to use a city destroying nuclear bomb? Of course not. Even though criminals might try to use a city destroying nuclear bomb on them.

The use scenario for a sniper is a civilian is being held captive by a criminal. That is extremely rare, but it is rarer that a perfect sniper situation also happens. All is possible, I guess.

But talking is better.

Even there, I have no solution for the Branch Davidian.

The story varies on who shot first. IMO, the ATF started this by showboating. They could have simply nabbed Koresh in town where he went every Saturday, IIRC.

FWIW, I think our government agencies have learned from the mistake.

Was it the Philly police who firebombed an apartment building from a helicopter? EDIT: yes it was: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1985_MOVE_bombing
As Philadelphia police attempted to evict MOVE members from a house, they were shot at. Philadelphia police aviators then dropped two explosive devices from a helicopter onto the roof of the occupied house. For 90 minutes, the Philadelphia Police Department allowed the resulting fire to burn out of control, destroying 61 previously evacuated neighboring homes over two city blocks and leaving 250 people homeless

Agreed on sniper limitations.

I watched that one on TV when I was in 8th grade. It was a row house, not an apartment, but yes.

The MOVE cult had built a sniper shelter on the top of their row house. The Philadelphia Police were in a standoff with them(a siege of the row house), and dropped an improvised bomb from a helicopter onto the sniper shelter. It blew up the shelter, but also started a fire. There was no way to put out the fire, because the MOVE cult was firing upon the firefighters. The fire burned down not just the row house, but I believe two blocks of row houses. The fire blew over the street, and into another block.

There really is no easy way to take on a cult who is under siege.

But yes, Philadelphia is the "City That Bombed Itself." Other cities get bombed by foreign powers, international terrorists, or domestic terrorists. Philadelphia gets bombed by its own police... Or at least did get bombed.

Police are supposed to protect the innocent, not go at Americans like storming Omaha Beach.

Imagine your local police force got a tank. I guess there is an imaginable use for a tank, but it does not seem likely. So the tank sits there for a while, and then the police start to try to figure out a use for it. No one likes having something and not using it. Next thing you know, they are using the tank for parking enforcement.

lol and of course you think violent molotov cocktail throwing mobs are just chock full of 'innocent protestors n stuff'. right? But but police stations, stores, and Federal buildings your heroes loot and set on fire only have regime criminals inside n stuff right?

Rubbish. Every single piece of shit participating in those mobs know exactly what they're doing.
