Sign language to Trump

I see very little point/utility in sign language, and certainly making it such a high priority when politicians and the like speak is clearly nothing beyond virtue signaling.

It looks to me like tech has solved the problem, all you need is a little thing that converts speech to text....telecasts can automatically and for no cost run text at the bottom of the screen.

If deaf people want to say something they cant write text....and convert it into speech if they feel like it.

Where is sign language helpful?

They thought they solved the problem in the 60's. They had the "tech".

In 2025 tech has taken over the translator gig, which once employed a fair number of people.....we need to unemploy the profession sign speakers as well.....its a performance now.

To be honest I wish I could do it without interpreters.

Not many understand what independence feels like.
