You can find regular and poor folk playing golf all the time in Oakland and San Francisco. Country clubs are for rich people but playing golf is for everyone.

Golf has most certainly changed (over the past decade especially). There are people of all skin pigmentations that play.... despite your desperate need to stereotype.

Um... if you are talking about the elite country clubs... you are correct. It is certainly for the wealthy (but again, not based on pigmentation, but wealth... at least in most places).
But for golf in general... the middle class plays as well. There are countless community courses that people play on that are not that expensive. Are you going to see someone on welfare playing... no.

Haha, you're hanging out around to many white areas! Come to Oakland... Lake Chabot golf course, the course right at the Oakland Airport go out to San Leandro and Hawyard, you'll see all the brothers and hispanics playing there.
And Topspin the majority of golf is played by middle class/lower middle class folk on public courses.
I volunteer with First Tee which gets kids playing golf including kids from the inner-city and our classes are packed with mostly minority kids.

As usual Libby, you accuse me of exactly what you do. You are right about one thing though- it is pathetic.
On our public course you'll see people of all shades of color and social bents. There are semi-dark Indians like me, blacks, hispanics as well as whites. Most of the time in mixed groups because they're all friends. On the private course you will several people of color as well (black, Indian...you know, from India, middle eastern, etc.) because most people of color that can afford to be on that course are in this part of our state because they are professional people like Doctors, Lawyers, etc.
That's because you golf on a country club green that only allows people like you.
One of the better public courses I've ever seen is in Denver, and it is full of the people from Denver, including the Vatos...
