Migrant charged with DWI killing of 5 in Texas crash. Usual media blackout since non-white is suspect

Does everyone know what "anglicized" means? In this case, it means that a person has a father who gives him an Hispanic name, but he is born in an English speaking country, so the name is made more English in spelling and pronunciation. So Solomun Araya was born in the USA, to what appears to be an American Black mother, and a Chilean father. His name is spelled in-between the Chilean and the Americanized versions.

"According to police, Araya showed signs of intoxication following the crash. The affidavit states Araya had bloodshot and watery eyes, mumbled speech and swayed while walking and turning, consistent with signs of central nervous system depressants."
Thank you for repeating what I said. Araya failed the sobriety tests. I will add, he blew a 0.00 on the breathalyzer, so almost certainly not drunk.

It is probably cause, but not beyond a reasonable doubt. That is enough to arrest him, and do further blood tests. To convict him, they need to prove he was using drugs, and disprove that it was some other medical problem.

What is not helping is lies about what is happening here.

He would have been taken to a hospital and given a drug screen. If he failed that he would have been arrested. They know what he took. Alcohol is a drug and it can intoxicate you just like other drugs drugs can intoxicate you. He blew a 0.0 so the drug he was intoxicated on isn't alcohol.

Wet paint is just one example. One of my points is a general philosophy of not putting all of my eggs in one basket. I also put function over form. Part of this is training, but mostly due to experience of losing possessions for one reason or another. This includes a couple instances of losing almost everything.

As Americans, we are inundated from childhood to be good consumers. We're taught that material possessions bring both happiness and prove our value as human beings. Toy commercials in children's shows is one example. Another example are the Jared Jewelry commercials at Christmas and Valentines Day pushing the idea that "if you love someone, you'll buy them a $5000 trinket".

Consumerism is the opposite of the Buddhist philosophy of non-attachment to material things such as possessions. Trump, et al, is an example of people who believe they are better people than others because they have the most valuable possessions.

My wife taught me to "collect memories, not things". She, too, has experienced the loss of most of her possessions. Some irreplaceable. We've both learned that there are more important things in life than possessions.

It is important to note, though, that the Buddhist advice is not to detach from the people in your life or from your experiences, but rather to simply recognize the non-attachment that is inherent to begin with. This is a rather key difference between Buddhist and other religious philosophies. While other religions seek to achieve some state of grace through hard work and active repudiation, Buddhism teaches that we are inherently joyful and that it is simply a matter of surrendering and relinquishing our misguided habits and preconceptions so that we can experience the essential Buddahood that is within us all.

No one should put all their eggs in one basket. It should go without saying, but it is a saying, so there's that.

Function and form are not mutually exclusive.

I don't think anyone should own any unliving material that would be devastating to lose. If my entire house and all its contents burned to the ground, the value of the structure and land far exceeds whatever stuff I have inside it. I am not particularly attached to any tangible possession, but I do appreciate a good bottle of wine and a good pair of jeans. Cost does not necessarily correlate with value or quality.

Americans are the most thoughtless consumers on the planet. Thankfully I live in the US less than half of my time, so I keep what I think is a good perspective.

You say "memories, not things." I say "experiences, not stuff." There isn't a difference except that I enjoy a $400 pair of jeans that fit perfectly, look great, and never fade or wear. You call that "overpriced", but you're also not one of Diesel's customers. That's the intention.

Good that you agree on the philosophy.

Agreed, but when it comes to $400 jeans or $12000 purses, I fail to see how it's not the form, i.e. label, that is taking precedent.

If one has money to burn, they should go for it if that's their desire. Still, I fail to see how having premium lable clothing isn't more about show than comfort.

Agreed on consumers. It's part of our social conditioning.

I'm not into fashion. :)

Clearly.

Muslims should not be allowed in america since they are fatalists and do not believe in safe driving or any sort of responsible behavior. They believe if they kill someone, it was destined to happen and nothing they could have done would have prevented it. Asians are also fatalists.

The article doesn't mention anything about his religion, dummy.

. A drunk behind the wheel of a 80,000 lb. vehicle is insane. Illegal Aliens can't get a license in Texas this guy should be in his home country and not drunk behind the wheel of a 80,000 lb vehicle.
"Araya allegedly told police the crash happened because another vehicle cut him off, stating that he had not consumed any alcohol before the incident. A preliminary breathalyzer exam showed Araya had a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.00, "

Yes, I do. You are a racist.
Actually everybody is racist since everybody knows blacks are inferior. But you are exceptionally racist since you support DEI and want whites persecuted. I say let blacks sink or swim on their own. No doubt they will sink but that's their fault.

1. Black-americans come in last in all standardized tests. Asian-americans do fine on all the tests so it's not due to cultural bias in the tests.

2. Africa is by far the poorest and most backward continent on the planet. All of black africa is now controlled by blacks and has been for decades so it's not due to racism.

3. No black has ever won a Science Nobel Prize unless you count one in 1979 for the semi-science of economics. They have won many nobels in non-brain fields like Peace and also in Literature so it is not due to racism.

4. Out of 1725 chess grandmasters in the world, only THREE are black.

5. 50 years of affirmative action special treatment and blacks have fallen even further behind. What does that tell you?
