When you have an opponent that has unlimited resources making a plea deal that has draconian penalties if you don't plea the only rational course is to plea to a lesser penalty

When you know you're guilty and they got the goods on you, it's better to plea bargain rather than risk a trial and getting the maximum penalty when found guilty. All of those J6 rioters who were arrested, convicted, and sentenced were guilty. But you deplorable garbage MAGATs don't care. You would, of course, be singing a far different song had they all been Black BLM rioters.
