It appears they captured the perp. in the times square attempted bombing....

Great work Eric Holder's team!

I am proud that our justice system was able to kick it into gear and nab this guy prior to him leaving the country!

Ok, they've apprehended someone but to be fair this Faisal Shahzad chap doesn't exactly sound like he was the 21st Century Carlos the Jackal.

It seems he bought the vehicle with cash and it was a pretty easy case to solve.

That being said they did the footwork and nabbed him before he got out of the country.

While I share your relief in the news of the capture of Faisal Shahzad, and while I too applaud the efforts of the FBI and other investigatory agencies, let's not lose sight of the fact that this guy left a trail Inspector Clouseau could have followed.

If it is fouind that he is responsible and after his trial he is judged to be guilty; I'm sorry and there are probably a lot that are going to take umbrage with this, but they need to show that this won't be tolerated and they need to put his ass in front of a firing squad and televise it.
But then, that's just me.

agree to an extent... though I think I would personally just tape a tiny little amount of C4 to his balls and set it off. Live by the sword, die by the sword. Live by the bomb... die by the bomb.

That would work also.

OR, EVEN BETTER; dump his ass back in Times Square, with a sign that says I'M THE IDIOT THAT WANTED TO KILL ALL OF YOU.
Televise the reactions; but you might want to warn the kiddies that it may be rated "V/L" for violence/lanugage.

Usf and SF, you guys have some great ideas. I particularly like the C-4 idea. Maybe we could use Usf's "Times Square" idea in the morning and save the C-4 part for the afternoon. We could sell tickets and make a little money.

I've even come up with a better one.
Suspend his ass in Times Square, post a guard, and have people pay to be allowed to slice off just a little piece of skin.
They're not allowed to just outright kill him.

DEATH BY A MILLION CUTS

Keep a doctor on hand, to keep him alive and awake.

EVEN BETTER
Take it on the road and spend one day in each States capital city.

Yeah-yeah, I know it's barbaric; but it might just make the next idiot, think about what might be in store for him.

that would only work if you gave the guns to anti gun liberals. That way he would still be alive for the C4 (though tragically several liberals would likely be dead/wounded due to self inflicted wounds)

Pakistan detains man over links to suspect in Times Square bomb attempt
05-04-2010 10:24 AM MST *By ASHRAF KHAN, Associated Press Writer
KARACHI, Pakistan (Associated Press) --
Pakistani authorities have detained at least one man in connection with the Times Square bombing attempt in New York, two intelligence officials said Tuesday.

The man, identified as Tauseef, was a friend of Faisal Shahzad, the American citizen of Pakistani origin who is in custody in the United States over the failed attack, one official said. He was arrested in the southern city of Karachi, said the official, who like all Pakistani spies refuses to be named in the media.

Another official said several people had been taken into custody in Karachi since the failed attack Saturday.

Neither said when the detentions had taken place. They said no charges had been filed.

Shahzad was on board a Dubai-bound flight that was taxiing away from the gate at New York's Kennedy Airport when the plane was stopped and FBI agents and New York Police Department detectives took him into custody late Monday, law enforcement officials said.

U.S. officials have said the 30-year-old had recently returned from a five-month stay in Pakistan, raising speculation he may have been in contact with al-Qaida or Taliban groups in the South Asian country.

A local television station reported Tuesday that Shahzad spent time in Karachi and visited the northwestern city of Peshawar during his stay in Pakistan. Peshawar is a gateway for foreigners seeking to travel into the nearby tribal regions where militant groups have long had sanctuaries.

Shahzad is suspected of driving a bomb-laden vehicle into Times Square last Saturday and parking it on a street lined with restaurants and Broadway theaters. He was expected in court to face charges later Tuesday.

I should have read everything... I thought you meant his firing squad idea... I do like his Times Square idea as well.

Unlike you, I am very proud of the vendor who saw smoke coming out of the car and called the cops.

It is fairly safe to assume that he thought that the physical evidence would have been destroyed by the explosion, giving him time to get away.
