Democrat Rep. Maxine Dexter says she will not leave El Salvador until Kilmar Abrego Garcia returns to the United States.

Kilmar Ábrego García was not supposed to be deported to El Salvador because of a 2019 immigration judge’s ruling that granted him "withholding of removal" status. This legal protection barred his deportation to El Salvador due to a credible fear of persecution by gangs, specifically Barrio-18, which had threatened and extorted his family. The ruling allowed him to live and work legally in the United States with a work permit issued by the Department of Homeland Security. He complied with annual ICE check-ins, lived in Maryland with his U.S. citizen wife and children, and had no criminal convictions in the U.S. or El Salvador.

So, if he feared for his safety from a rival gang. Why would he if he wasn't involved with a rival gang? Gangs just don't target every deported individual.
Since MS-13 was deemed a terrorist organization, he was subject to immediate deportation. He was here 8 years prior to his withholding of removal, and 6 years after his wife accused him of physical violence. Why didn't he apply for citizenship through the legal channels during the 14 years he was here illegally...unless there was something that would deny him becoming a US citizen? That's a question he should have been asked.

Hence the due process. You walked right into it.
