I have no problem if parents want to baptize their kids as a family ritual, but I do think when the kids get old enough they should have a second baptism if they so choose, to follow the New Testament example. it's their belief system, so they can follow whatever they determine in best for themselves. Jesus didn't say much for public consumption, so it behooves Christians to read what he did say carefully. John The Baptist was admired by Jesus and many others.

It really does. I thought the same thing the first time I read it, when I wasa kid. Always thought it was interesting that fundies put a lot of stock in that particular book, while Lutherans totally ignored it. I wonder why the compilers of the Bible thought to include it?

Why should a vile and corrupt soul like Trump's get into Heaven, assuming he recants and pleads guilty on his deathbed, but a generous, kind, compassionate, mostly sin-less person in India burns for eternity? It is not logical. If there really is a Creator, he/she/it/them must be logical, given how the universe was made.

Which is why I believe that people have free will; they choose to "go with God" or to stay in the darkness. It's a choice. Trump is making his. It's not for eternity although it can be if he chooses it to be. God doesn't choose, we do.
