Can we stop pretending the the right is a bastion of "Christianity?"

Look at the results of these vicious, unfounded and racist lies about Haitians.

Would Jesus Christ EVER support that? Would he EVER defend that, as most of MAGA is right now?
I am fine with right wingers claiming Christianity. Where it belongs.

There are not a lot of Christians left.... huge numbers have converted to WOKE.....they go to the churches that claim to be Christian but which no longer are.

They are White Christian Nationalists which is the opposite of being Christian.

Example from actual Christians:
Baptists should reject Christian nationalism because it is idolatrous and because Christian nationalism violates important mandates of holy Scripture. It also violates our tradition as Baptists of fighting not only for our religious freedom but for the freedom of all people to practice or not practice faith as they see fit, without any interference from human authority or institutions.

Could we stop pretending that all the right are Christians and that you really care
In 2022, 85 percent of Republicans claimed that they are Christians.

That is an overwhelming majority.

Although on this forum, it looks like almost none of them attend Sunday service regularly, and do not even make a minimal effort to emulate the example of Jesus.

The right uses religion to enrich and empower themselves. The billionaires on top, like Trump, are not believers, but the religions have done the groundwork of training the followers to blindly believe and to take orders. Look at how the Evangelical leaders live. They are among the multi-millionaire class. That is not religion. It is a massive redistribution of wealth to themselves.
Show me a religious leader with wealth and I will show you a hypocrite.

White Christian nationalism is a political ideology.

What is a "White Christian Nationalist" and what's soooooo baaaaaad about it?

Well, if they are lies it would be "Bearing False Witness"... However, the whole premise of the religion is that folks are not perfect, only one person was and he was also God. So, by that god's grace they'd be forgiven if it were a sin. Denying that grace is a bit non-Christian though...

There's also that uncomfortable bit about judging others only to be judged by your own rules... If we take that all the way out, almost no human will be judged by all that forgiveness as almost every human I have seen runs around telling folks that God would "never forgive" them for something. If such is the case, and because you judged others using that premise, you would be judged that way too...

Nobody will be going to Heaven, because everyone seems to ignore Grace... :dunno:

I'm a universalist.

I just think if someone calls themselves Christian, they should at least TRY to live in a way that's consistent w/ Jesus' message. We'll all fall short, of course, but there should be at minimum some effort.

Christian nationalism is bastard form of religion that perverts almost all the core concepts of the religion while trying to retain a connection to the name (Christian) because that allows them to deceive adherents.

The core concepts coming out out of Christian Nationalism would all be anathema to Jesus Christ teachings. It promotes things like:

- embracing politics as core to their identity and seeking political power in Christs name and to use that political power to force others to their views
- emphasis on division, xenophobia and intolerance with a focus on immigrants, non Christians and different races and marginalized groups
- pretense that only 'their group' are the true disciples of god and their religion instead of all people in all countries
- often preaches their version of the prosperity gospels applauding the hording of wealth by churches, officials, and subjects while trying to further disenfranchise the poor or displaced

Bogus number. Additionally, there are plenty of people who claim to be Christian who actually aren't.

You'd have to know which "Republicans" on this forum call themselves Christians, know precisely when they attend church services, and then see if they were posting on JPP during that time period (typically about an hour or so). There's really no way to know whether JPP's Christians are attending Sunday services or not.

First off, plenty of churches additionally hold services at times other than Sunday mornings. I used to attend a church that held weekly Monday evening services in addition to Sundays, and I now attend a church that holds weekly Thursday evening services in addition to Sundays, so maybe some of JPP's Christians are attending church on a weekday evening instead of on a Sunday morning. Even on Sunday mornings, plenty of churches hold multiple services (for instance, mine holds services at both 8am and 10:30am). Church services typically last for about an hour (but this can vary from week to week, and from church to church).
and do not even make a minimal effort to emulate the example of Jesus.
Everyone falls short of the glory of God on a daily basis, and we all have our particular sins that we individually struggle with. For some people, that could be a hot temper. For others, that could be a lack of patience or even struggling with addictions of various sorts. This is why I recognize my need for a Savior (and I thank God for sending him roughly 2,000 years ago!). This is also why I regularly attend church services and regularly confess my sins to God.

The right uses religion to enrich and empower themselves.
Religion is not a "right" or "left" thing.
The billionaires on top, like Trump, are not believers, but the religions have done the groundwork of training the followers to blindly believe and to take orders.
Why do you hate billionaires so much? There's nothing wrong with being a billionaire.
Look at how the Evangelical leaders live. They are among the multi-millionaire class. That is not religion. It is a massive redistribution of wealth to themselves.
What "evangelical leaders"? My pastors are not "multi-millionaires".
Show me a religious leader with wealth and I will show you a hypocrite.
There is nothing inherently wrong with being wealthy.
