I read a post by Cyrus (I think it was) chastising President Trump for intentionally dropping an "F-Bomb" on live TV. This happened when President Trump recently told reporters that Israel and Iran had...
"...been fighting so long and so hard that they don't know what the FUCK they are doing."
Cyprus (and the MSM) are shocked by Trump's use of the word "Fuck" while speaking on live TV to be very vulgar and "Un-Presidential."
Ever since 2016 , President Trump has hed to endure criticism from the establishment elites who deemed his conduct to be too coarse and uncouth Trump's earthy, no bullshit, manner ruffled the delicate sensibilities of Washington's political class. They were appalled by his lack of grace and refinement, in particular, when Obama - who was a black, for God's sake ! - had always mansged to comport himself in a perfectly dignified manner. When President Obama appeared in public, he was always :well-spoken,, elegant He was a charming "honey-dripper" (Shame that he was actually such a lying, devious prick ).
It's was a really big deal in the US that Trump had deliberately dropped the "F-bomb" on live TV. You know: "IT WAS OUTRAGEOUS !!", "IT was SCANDALOUS BEHAVIOUR !!" "IT'S SUCH A SHOCKING and DISGUSTING DISPLAY OF PIG-IGNORANCE FROM AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT !!"
I think the reason for this hysterical reaction was that modern-day) Americans (the White Anglo-Saxon ones, that is) are the descendants of the Puritans who first arrive in the "New World" from England on the "Mayflower" in 1620 . The Pilgrims established a successful settlement at Plymouth, Then between 1630 and 1640 there was a mass-migration of English Puritans to New England. All up around 20,000 Puritans sailed from England to the "New World" throughout the 1630s
The Pilgrims were Puritans though they were also known as (Puritan)"separatists" because they had split with the Church of England. (NB: Puritans were basically Protestants who followed the religious teachings/theology of a guy called, John Calvin) The Pilgrims were pretty feisty little critters and got themselves in a shit-load of trouble with the authorities back in England (who viewed them as subversives). The 20,000 Puritans who arrived in New England from Blghty, were also pretty tough and gutsy dude, You would have needed to be just to risk sailing across the Atlantic ocean on the first half of the 17th century in from in some pixy, little, fragile wooden Barque or Schooner)
The Puritans existed on America (in the New England region) as a distinctive, religious and political group (with their own systems of government, their Congregationalist Churches, their own laws and Courts, customs and manners social organisations, etc) from 1620 to somewhere around 1740. Their decline began in earnest early in the 18t century.
The thing is that despite the Puritans having pretty much disappeared from the scene by the earlt decades of the 18th century, they HAD A PROFOUND INFLUENCE on AMERICAN CULTURE - ESPECIALLY IT DOMINANT VALUES and BELIEFS and ATTITUDES. It is as though the the CORE VALUES and PRINCIPLES of the PURITANS were burned - (or hardwired, of you like) - into the psyches of the generations that came after them.
To cut to the chase this is why WHITE ANGLO - AMERICANS still have a well-known reputation for being prudish and (kind of ) pietitious. ouFor example, Americans have got a big hang up with public nudity. While there are lots of beaches in Europe (France and Spain, for example) where girls can be seen topless sunbathing, or regions of coast where its totally OK to sunbathe or surf completely naked., Whitely Anglo -Yanks, though, would NEVER do stuff like this. Right ? Same thing goes for curse words, if you are a White Anglo-American who has a potty- mouth, then you will be looked down upon as someone who a low-rent, low-class human being. In contrast, In Australian, New Zealand and (most) British people have a much more relaxed, "less anal", attitude toward the use of "colourful" language .
American prudishness is, I think, a fascinating example of White Anglo-America's Puritan inheritance. Over 300 years after the Puritans had PHYSICALLY disappeared from 17th- American society in New England, the imprint of their culture (o.g. their core values, beliefs, spirituality) lives on to a surprising extent in the United States today. I think this has happened because the the Puritans had a very strong and powerful culture and cultures are passed down from one generation to to the next (I also think that distinctive, individual cultures a have a "hard-wired" genetic (biological/hereditary component. There were a number of core, primary values, beliefs and principles, etc that shaped the Puritan world-view. For example, hey believed that hard-work (industriousness) was a virtue, also, that thrift (and saving money) was a praiseworthy habit; honesty, responsibility, self -control and religious piety were also seen as important personal attributes to cultivate.
The Puritan belief that I want to zoom in on, however, is the belief that STRICT moral discipline and moral purity provided the correct form of Christian life. In 17th-century New England we know from the historical records of the time that the Puritans elders took a very (very) dim view of persons who engaged in any kind of SEXUAL MISCONDUCT.. This includes the use of sexual expletives like "fucke" and "cunte".
The best way to illustrate this is to read the records of the Puritan's general Court hearing that dealt with cases of sexual misconduct. Given this, I have taken some extracts from the original records of the Plymouth Colony General Court., so you can hear the Puritans speak in their own words. They date from 1636 through to 1688.
