I predict that the S&P 500 will be well under 5,000 by September 30th

Yes, we have set a record high again, reseting the market after the 20% decline from the previous high. We entered a bear market(bad) two month ago, and today we entered a bull market(good).
And you still complain!
trump is already talking about ruining it by turning the Fed into an alt right bastion. A segment of retail investors that are propping up the market are cheering TACO to keep the market high, but will that last?

Of course it will not, nothing lasts forever. The real question for me is will it last until September 30th, and it looks likely it will. But we will see.
The Federal Reserve is controlled by Congress, Wally. Not a taco.

It is possible, maybe even probable, that I will lose quite a bit of money,
This is unfortunate and I hope you never repeat this mistake. I wish you only the best in your financial endeavors but you have to help yourself. You really shouldn't bet against your own economy, regardless of how much you HATE the President.

but I have even more money, so I am not too worried.
This is good. Not losing the money in the first place is even better.

I am keeping the mutual funds that I indirectly own stock with(SWTSX and SWISX), and before I retire the plan is to only put more money in. When I retire the plan is to take out 4% or less, a year.
So you are good. Instead of "gambling", try "optimizing."

I do own various non publicly traded stock. I will be keeping those too, unless forced to sell through a buyout.
Good luck.

Record highs' don't mean anything, since it's gross dollars, not inflation adjusted dollars.
I would not say they mean nothing, but it is easier to get record highs with inflation. What I was hoping to do was take advantage of a drop that happened before the slow rise from inflation. My guess is there will be a huge drop, and then a double digit yearly rise that nearly exactly matches inflation.

Rubbish. Many get paid in stock, on top of salaries, either free for the top dogs, or at big discounts depending on where you are on the corp food chain.
Usually stock options are part of their compensation package. That is different in getting paid with stock. It is being paid in the ability to buy stock at an old price. There is only a discount if the price of the stock goes up.

yes. the GameStop thing was not a pump and dump on the gamestops part, that was edwin's last attempt to give the criminals cover.
I sort of agree with you on GameStop, but sort of do not. GameStop was selling as much GameStop stock as they could (dumping it) when they saw that it was selling at such a high price.

The "dumb money" that was pumping GameStop made it a point not to sell.

Not losing the money in the first place is even better.
I kind of disagree with you here. You should take some risks, and lose some money. In a diversified portfolio you will gain more than you lose over the long term, if you are willing to lose some.

I am convinced he has no investments. He just likes to whine about the stock market, no matter which way it's moving.

He's a pretender.

Again, this is how the gambling-addicted rationalize their problem, i.e. they claim that their poor decision was somehow a necessary part of some "strategy" and if only they hadn't gotten terribly "unlucky."

In a diversified portfolio you will gain more than you lose over the long term,
... and yet you purchased options to protect against this, believing that Donald Trump and his evil demon magic would cause this principle to somehow reverse.

but then he stopped and came to the light.

you should give it a try. and get your lips off satan's dick.

I never said it was Gamestop's operation; try developing reading skills. It was set up on some daytrading site by a guy who promoted it to the gullible gamblers on the site. They then turned it into a 'movement' and ran up the price, meanwhile the guy peddling the 'rebellion' cashed out.

Keep misrepresenting what I said, since it's very important to you for some reason.

In other news, idiots are paying around $160 a share for a stick that pays 4 cents a year in dividends, cuz, like, 'AI n stuff'. Never mind they don't have a clue as to what it is. lol

the GameStop people running a pump and dump is absurd.

its a distraction and not the point at all.
