Ag Secretary Suggests Replacing Migrant Farm Workers With 'People On Medicaid'

Agriculture SecretaryBrooke Rollins doesn’t seem worried that mass-deporting migrant farmworkers will disrupt the U.S. food supply.

But her explanation as to why not sounds a touch dystopian.

During a Tuesday press conference, Rollins insisted that “there will be no amnesty” for agricultural workers who aren’t authorized to be in the U.S.

Instead, Rollins said, President Donald Trump’s mass deportation agenda will “continue, but in a strategic way.”

She then suggested a doozy of a plan to replace deported farmworkers: A combination of “automation and 100% American participation,” which she said could be provided by what she called the “34 million people, able-bodied adults, on Medicaid.”

Ah yes take away their healthcare then make them work the fields. What could go wrong?!

Jade = life long parasite off of the work of others gets angry at even the suggestion that he be asked to even work just a little bit to help offset the cost at least some that the rest of us pay to house him, feed him. Give him medical care and silly little video games meant for small children instead of grown men like himself. No Jade....it's not fuck her....it's fuck YOU. A gamer at his age? He should be ashamed. While other men go off to war this clown sits in front of a TV like an 8 year old playing with toys. Those days are coming to an end now...you WILL work. Time to pay up Jade..you owe a LOT.

A whole lot could go right. They may well see their overall health improve dramatically due to work activity and better eating habits. Laying around like a lazy sloth and eating like a pig isn't very good for ones health.

Wow, they're not even trying to pretend anymore that they want to bring back slavery, are they? A large percentage of Medicaid dollars goes to the care of elderly residents living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. I wonder how many strawberries an 89-yo dementia patient can pick in an hour from her wheelchair?

Interesting. This is just another MAGAT attempt to demonize a segment of our population.

"In 2023, most Medicaid adults under age 65 were working (Figure 1). Among adults under age 65 with Medicaid who do not receive benefits from the Social Security disability programs, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), and who are not also covered by Medicare (referred to hereafter as “Medicaid adults”), 92% were working full or part-time (64%), or not working due to caregiving responsibilities, illness or disability, or school attendance. The remaining 8% of Medicaid adults reported that they are retired, unable to find work, or were not working for another reason."

To the fields you go!

Recent studies indicate that a significant portion of Medicaid recipients identify as Republican or lean Republican. While a larger percentage of Democrats and Independents utilize Medicaid, approximately 27% of beneficiaries nationwide describe themselves as Republican, according to the KFF. Furthermore, half of all Republican congressional districts have 21% or more of the population enrolled in Medicaid. In particular, the Republican base has expanded to include more working-class and lower-income individuals, many of whom rely on Medicaid for their healthcare needs.

If you look into you'll find more than half of those on Medicaid already work, another third or so are retired or infirm, and administration of the requirement would be both expensive and a giant pain in the ass.
...and what about those who aren't working and should be? LONG OVERDUE updates needed... Totally worth it when all is said and done...

When you work for the benefits you receive, and for the money you use to buy food...clothing... and treats for others, you appreciate them much more...
