You may be right. It's not like a good homophobe is scared of gay people, more like they hate the gay people. A better term would be "misohomosexual" or some such.

Maybe just "mouth breathing bigot" will have to do in the interim.

Rubbish. Letting mentally ill people propagandize grade school kids and desensitizing them to being molested by faggots is just insanity, not a 'phobia'. Jesus was in fact a reformer who wanted to take Judaism back to its original intent, an inclusive universalist theology, not a racist Babylonian botique cult.
