She wasn't illegal. She was complying with the requirements. Still, as a non-US citizen, she can't vote in federal elections.

Masihi, who is now in her 40s, was 3 when she came to the United States as a refugee from Iran. About 15 years ago, her green card was revoked due to a prior conviction she had for theft, and since then she's been dedicated to regaining her legal status, Sahakyan told the Los Angeles TV station in an interview.
Her occasional immigration check-ins had seemingly been going smoothly until the U.S. got involved with Israel's war against Iran and began fearing retribution for bombing three of the country's nuclear sites on June 21.
Shortly thereafter Masihi was detained, along with more than 130 Iranian nationals, federal sources told the outlet.

Excellent point...but the MAGAts don't care. She's brown and they hate brown.
She had her green card revoked because she was convicted of criminal theft. So she was in the USA without legal resident status.
She is exactly the type of person mass deportation was intended to boot out of the USA.
She obviously thought wearing a MAGA hat and flying a MAGA flag would protect her from being targeted and lumped in with the 'dirty' Mexicans and Guatamalans.
Doubt she'll get to see her children much from Iran. The ironic thing about her Trump-worship is that the Democratic Party usually tried to keep mothers from being ripped away from their American-born children.

Agreed on the revocation of her green card, but my understanding was that she was legal to stay while seeking to resolve the issue.
The main reason she was picked up appears to be because she was brown and born in Iran.
Agreed the MAGA flag-waving appears to be more about a ploy than sincere support. OTOH, since MAGA and the Evangelistas are the equvalen of American Taliban, maybe they really are sincere Trump supporters.
During Trump's first term he ordered the separation of parents and children with no plan to reunite them. It just goes to prove both his evilness that of his followers.

He really didn't seem super upset that his wife is detained and at risk of being sent back to Iran. His love for Donald Trump seemed to take precedence over his feelings for his wife.
