And, I have no problem with those taxes being redirected to commercial properties. I'd also say it would be a great incentive to get more people to be owners rather than renters. The Left loves renters because it gives them more control over them in increasing government. The Left hates the idea that someone could outright own stuff and the government can't take it away.

There are also places in the US, particularly rural, where fire departments are by subscription, there are no police, trash pickup, if it exists, is by private contract, and sewer service doesn't exist (septic systems). Schools can be funded by other taxes and usually are. In Arizona, there are lots of alternatives to public education, and most are better than public education.
