Doge Clock...

This clock isn't an official government website, but it does take information from the official site.
No offense, but it has become a mockery... Well it always was a mockery, but now we all know it is. It got basic numbers wrong.

Hey did you hear that "Big Balls" quit Doge(not unexpected), but was immediately hired as a "special employee" at the Social Security Administration. This is a 19 year old kid who was fired from three unpaid internships, including by his own father. It is the grandson of a KGB agent. I wish any of this was a joke.

Other administrations hire young people, like people just out of college, but trump is surrounding himself with people who have no education and no experience. It is bizarre. You have 18 year olds who are "too important" for college instructing that tourist visas get cancelled. It is just bizarre.

No, that takes rescission bills. Those will have to pass after "The One Big Beautiful Bill Act".
Moving forward, it take an adjustment in the budget, which Republicans simply have not done.

The Big Waste of Money increases the deficit hugely, even though Republicans claim there is no recession that requires such a move.

Nonsense, in order to actually end spending on things like the stuff DOGE found/finds takes rescission bills. They've already begun discussing them. When they do pass, will you be back to tell us how wrong you were?

No, you just do not budget it for the next year. Even with a rescission bill, if you budget for the next year, it will be back. When you want to end budgeting for something, you have to end budgeting for it.

trump is spending out of control, because trump is spending out of control. We are not going to figure out some magical way to take back the money that trump is spending out of control.

What "Stuff" did Doge find that you approve of?

Can you quote a handful of examples for us?

Do you think Doge or Damo think this even matters?

Or do they think 'cuts to spending' are the only thing that matters even if every dollar put in returns about $4?

Cutting of national parks budgets doesn’t make business sense

In case anyone still imagines that DOGE’s activities are about saving the Treasury money, consider what they are doing with our national parks. According to Michigan State University, for every dollar spent on national parks, they earn almost four dollars in return; more, when spending in surrounding areas, generating taxes, are considered. The MSU report was issued before this year’s record attendance — and record fees, sales, and lodge income.

Foreign visitors make up a large part of that tourist bonanza. On my visits to parks, the Asians, especially Japanese, and Europeans, especially Germans, seemed to outnumber Americans. That is all foreign money entering OUR economy.

DOGE is slashing and firing in all our national parks.....

Democrats on the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations yesterday released a jaw-dropping report attempting to document the scope and scale of financial waste, personnel upheaval, and human suffering caused by the so-called Department of Government Efficiency and Elon Musk’s giddily uninformed strike force of Peter Thiel acolytes. In all, the Democrats, led by Richard Blumenthal (CT), estimated DOGE cost the government $21.7 billion.

If Blumenthal will lie to you about his military service to help him politically he will lie about this too.

154,000 federal workers who took DOGE buyouts are being paid to go fishing, watch Dungeons and Dragons streams and hunt for new jobs

The government has generated an estimated $14.8 billion in waste on the deferred resignation program, a new report says

The government is paying more than 154,000 federal employees not to work after they accepted the deferred resignation offer — and they’re spending their paid leave job hunting, doing yoga, and watching YouTube,...

... tens of thousands of federal workers who accepted the government’s offer as of June that allowed employees to “retain all pay and benefits” through September 30 and voluntarily leave their jobs....

...An Agriculture Department employee, who’s been on paid leave since April, told the Post that he’s spent his free time watching comedians play a Dungeons and Dragons game, improv, and crafters on YouTube. He applied to more than 130 jobs before landing one at an animal health company that offered him a salary much greater than the $61,000 salary from the government, he said.
For six weeks, his federal job and new job would overlap, meaning he’d be temporarily raking in cash from two salaries. His new role would earn him enough that his wife would be able to quit her job, he told the outlet. In the meantime, he goes fishing and dines out, all on the government’s dime.

He recalled telling his wife: “As much as I don’t want to admit it, this ended up being a blessing in disguise.”
...

An analysis by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington last week, which looked at a few of the agencies impacted, found that DOGE’s workforce slashes could result in a loss of over $10 billion in U.S.-based economic activity and the closure of programs that have put over $26 billion in funds back into the pockets of taxpayers....

DOGE Wasted Tens of Billions While Chainsawing the Government in the Name of 'Efficiency': Senate Report

Bu...bu...but the Rich got their tax cuts! :woot:

You know, it is not even the celebrating of the rich getting tax cuts or pretending to not see that bothers me about @Damocles stupidity on this topic.

You can send me in to Apple or Facebook tomorrow and i can start firing all their staff, and canceling contracts where they pay out and call that 'waste and fraud' and we can add up the 'savings' i just made for them.

But is it that simple? Is just cutting and calling something "Savings" when you do not look at all the costs on the other side. How much revenue and profits Apple and FB would lose?

Damocles entire approach to this is so sadly simple and yet he was so eager to dance to these so called 'savings' and start spending them on other things.
