Trump Putin summit

If you're arguing that Trump can't force Putin to do another meeting, sure. But I'm sure you heard Putin say "Next time in Moscow" at the end of their meeting. Bottom line, I think that Putin values diplomacy quite a bit. I don't think Trump values it nearly as much, but he at least values it a bit, or this meeting wouldn't have even taken place.
"The biggest problem with Trump is he lacks courage and backbone"

I have now spent about three hours listening to after action reports on my grapevine.....it has not been very helpful.....nobody seems to know what happened......and then there is the matter of the secret meetings between the Americans and the Russians that happened pre Alaska.....which have so far remained secret.

We know that the meeting was 2 H 45 M which is very short given the need for interpreters, that the lunch was cancelled, that after Putin spoke first for over 8 minutes, Trump then spoke for less than 4.....neither saying much of consequence.

Well, I just saw the following youtube video from Sebastian Sas:

Sebastian sees the meeting as a definite win, for diplomacy. I'm beginning to think he's right. As to ending the war in Ukraine, that's another matter, but as Sebastian said, let's see what comes of the meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy on Monday.

Why the lunch was cancelled is another secret that has so far been kept.

Fair enough, but I'm beginning to think that it's definitely no the most important point. I think Sebastian is right- the main winner in Alaska yesterday was diplomacy. And Trump rating the meeting a 10 out of 10, with Russia saying positive things about it as well was definitely a good sign too in my view.

Problems:

The talks were very short

We are told nothing about what was talked about.

Neither side brought military people so the claim that Ukraine was the main topic is almost impossible to believe.

A fantastic waste of time and space. Much ado about nothing.

Of course, no MAGA mook will DARE acknowledge that the Orange POS in the Oval Office made a spectacle berating Zelensky as if he's the perpetrator and uncooperative one .... verbally accosted the President of South Africa with a FALSE NARRATIVE video to justify his PERSONAL granting "asylum" to disgruntled "Afrikaners" pinning for the old apartheid days. But yet he has NO problem hosting bonafide WAR CRIMMINAL.

You can't make this stuff up! :|

Both sides would claim it was a successful meeting no matter what the reality was....that is irrelevant.

I can certainly believe that the military aspect of the conflict in Ukraine was not the main topic. I believe that the main issue is re-establishing better ties between the U.S. and Russia. As an English teacher, I have 2 Ukrainian students, so ofcourse I'd love it if this conflict was resolved tomorrow, but looking at the big picture, it's far more important that the relationship between Russia and the U.S. continues getting better. The last thing any sane person would want is for the nuclear tensions that have been around for a while to surge up again.

To be fair to Zelensky, he's been pressured for years to join the dark side. A good article on that, published shortly after Russia's military operation began:

At this point, I think it's hard for him to escape it. To quote a line from Yoda:
"If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny"

Perhaps Zelensky can have a Darth Vader come back, but I think it's quite possible that he doesn't. In any case, let's see what happens when he meets up with Trump on Monday.

I don't know about that. I think we can agree that Zelenskyy's meeting with Trump at the White House did -not- go well.

The Risk of nuclear war has never been worse.......The Imperial Empire's total war against Russia is still ragging as they plan massive aggression against China. Russia knows this but is pretending otherwise on the world stage....whether this is a good idea I do not know......they are calculating that the Imperial Empire is in collapse, that the clock is on their side, their focus is on minimizing the damage to them.

Excellent points!

Flyovers to honor foreign leaders is considered a great honor. American Presidents very rarely give that honor to a foreign leader. trump must really want to honor Putin to give him such a thing.
Trump welcomed a war criminal onto US soil and gave Putin everything he wanted.

Zelensky will be at the WH Monday...

Why does stating something that's been reported in the news make TOP a "simple minded weirdo"?
