True, but they sure as hell use politics to STILL defend and excuse it and it's legacy (i.e., Jim Crow laws, red lining, predatory lending, etc.).

Those were the Dixiecrats. The people you call Dems moved to the Repub party after LBJ passed the equal rights laws. They fit into the Repubs smoothly because they have the same beliefs. Before that, the Dems always had to consider the Dixiecrats would vote along with Repubs in legislation.

Way ahead of ya, Nord. I've been schooling the neocons/teabaggers/maga folk on this site about the Southern Strategy and such for YEARS! I KNOW from research and family history (Mom's side of the family from North Carolina) how the Dem & GOP came to switch sides.
