Well, I didn't listen to Limbaugh, so I don't really know what he said... I am going by the posted quote in the OP. Nothing in THAT quote would indicate any such viewpoint, and nothing I have stated in this thread, would indicate such a viewpoint, so how about posting something that he actually said, which made you think that is what he meant?

Given I was the first to bring up natural seeps, the point is not that they are as bad as BP. While in a year they may release as much oil, the problem with BP is the RATE of the leak. It is faster than the ocean/gulf can deal with it in a natural manner (microbes etc...)
The reason I brought seeps into the discussion originally was that drilling around natural seeps can actually provide BENEFITS. It was an argument aimed at those whose knee jerk reaction was that we should not drill offshore anymore.
But morons like Cypress were incapable of comprehending that and thus resulted to the normal bullshit straw man creation he loves so much.

Limbaugh's statement was made to minimize the damage. Comparison to seepage is stupid because oil does not seep out in one place in the amounts it has in the gulf. It is like comparing the blood lost over a human life time from cuts, and wounds or a woman's menstrual cycle to that lost in one cut of the carotid artery. I am certain that, at the very least, a female loses more blood from her menstrual cycle over the period of her life time than someone does having their throat cut, but the rapid rate at which blood is lost in the latter is what is deadly.
