In this case that was a problem, as well...I have no problem with extensive background checks...
But my biggest issue is that it's very difficult to provide an accurate check when people continue to enable and support obvious mental illness...

I think social media reviews should be a part of all background checks... For guns.. for a job for...for anything... I've said that quite often here... There are some scary online resumes floating about JPP...

The point I'm making, and you are missing, is that guns not only facilitate, but encourage violence. Guns are the "tool" (your word) of choice for criminals, thugs and angry assholes with an axe to grind against society.

It doesn't take a genius or a sociologist to understand that there are underlying social problems that cause the violent urges to begin with, not to mention the innate violent nature of humans in general. But when you take those factors, add them together and throw an over availability of guns into the mix, what you get is what we see today... weekly mass shootings in which innocent people, small children included, are mowed down and slaughtered because some unstable nutjob was able to easily obtain access to as many firearms as they wanted and enough ammo to wipe out an entire football stadium of people.

The reason why we're stuck in this never ending and increasingly escalating cycle of violence, is because conservative males are scared to death that if their guns were to disappear, their imaginary manhood would disappear right along with them.

The problem is that
the unstable nut jobs are supported and enabled... If he would have been unable to buy the guns legally , he would have just gotten them illegally.... The solution is to get them Help before they write hundreds of pages about wiping out a church... And need to get the guns to do it....

How are people enabling and supporting obvious mental illness?

Sounds like you're engaging in a typical transparent and flimsy attempt to blame gun violence on the left for supporting transgenderism, when the two things have no relationship to one another.

If transgenderism or the desire to be a different gender is a symptom of a mental disorder, which it may well be, then it's the underlying mental disorder that also causes the violent behavior, not the transgenderism.

They are both symptoms of the underlying mental illness.

Two days ago was once again one too many Examples of people enabling and supporting mental illness...If you allow a minor...if you enable a minor ....if you support a minor In a gender change... And then abandon them... Ignore them.... Don't get them the necessary Therapies to make that unnatural transition...for years... Things do not go well... Mental illness requires professional treatment.... Which very obviously this individual did not receive... There were red flags all over the place....

That's a cheap, bullshit copout.

There are over 350 million people in this country. If even half of them are adults and eligible to purchase guns, that leaves 175 million people, any one of which can have unrecognizable mental issues,just waiting for something to set them off.

There is no magic psychological counseling button you can push to make the problems caused by too many guns go away.

The problem is that humans are humans and many of them are going to develop mental issues at some point due to any number of reasons.

Most of them would never become fatally violent if a gun weren't readily available to them offering what they think is a quick and easy solution to whatever it is they see as a problem.

And none of that has anything to do with him buying guns and ammo then shooting up a church school full of children.

He was enabled to do that by the conservative political right and their unyielding, thick-headed devotion to guns.

About 1% are born with ambiguous sex characteristics. Maybe more. No mental disorder about that.

Sexual orientation is not a simple, black and white issue like you intellectually lazy fucks like to think. It’s a complex mix of hormones, brain chemistry, and social/environmental influences.

But, for simplistic minds, there are only simplistic answers.

All of that has everything to do with why he carried out all that evil.... I would have loved to have very specific background checks in place... As I said I think social media should be checked ... For every gun for every job... Stricter rules for all kinds of licenses and purchases.... Like CDLs for example...
