New C.D.C. Director Resists Ouster as Other Officials Resign

The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is refusing to leave her post, despite demands from Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. that she quit or be fired, according to her lawyers and an administration official familiar with the events.

The clash between Mr. Kennedy and Susan Monarez, who was sworn in as C.D.C. director just one month ago, burst into public view on Wednesday as four other high-ranking C.D.C. officials quit en masse, apparently in frustration over vaccine policy and Mr. Kennedy’s leadership.

 
The vaccine chief also resigned, saying CDC had become a political tool rather than a scientific institution. He pulled no punches in his resignation letter. Among other ststements:

“people of dubious intent and more dubious scientific rigor in charge of recommending vaccine policy to a director hamstrung and sidelined by an authoritarian leader."

Our last lines of defense are being sold out.

Did you know that in many states you can no longer get the Covid vaccine, and there is some question about whether most of us will be able to get it anymore? Kennedy is trying to ban it.

The people who used to not trust the CDC, will never trust the CDC. He cannot restore trust with them. The people who used to trust the CDC, no longer trust the CDC. This is just going from bad to worse.

There might be a few places where they are still available, but Kennedy is shutting them down. It is now becoming illegal for many Americans.

Kennedy said he was just a "vaccine skeptic", who would allow us to decide for ourselves. Now we see he is an anti-vaccine dictator.

I don't know about that. Already, he's made some steps that I think that have been quite solid.

I think we can agree that what this all comes down to is what RFK Jr. is doing. I think he's doing things that are good, you don't. If this conversation's going to go anywhere, we've got to get into specific decisions he's made and why we disagree on whether those decisions were good or bad.

Just looking at Hawkeye's comment and your response make it clear that you're miles apart. If the Covid vaccines really -are- death jabs, I think we'd agree that what RFK Jr. is doing is wonderful. The issue, ofcourse, is that you -don't- believe they are death jabs. I actually made a thread on mRNA vaccines if you're interested. It can be seen here:

I might be wrong, but I believe the third of the population that does not trust the CDC will never trust the CDC. The two thirds that used to trust the CDC will no longer trust the CDC. So the CDC is going to start getting ignored now.

They are trying to come up with new rules for in Pennsylvania and many other states that will completely ignore the federal vaccine rules. The Republicans are pushing through their rules in places like Texas ignoring the federal vaccine rules. So the federal vaccine rules will become completely unimportant, with a few exceptions. That is just the new reality.

Have you heard of soft succession? Blue states are beginning to ask why we are sending so much money into the federal government, if we are getting nothing in return. We are trying to figure out how to just ignore the federal government.
