“US Manufacturing Shrinks for Sixth Straight Month”

“US factory activity shrank in August for a sixth straight month, driven by a pullback in production that shows manufacturing remains bogged down by higher import duties tied to President Donald Trump’s trade war.”

What do you want to bet we will see a “tremendous,” “best in history, job report from Trump’s BLS tomorrow? Antoni knows full well what happened to McEntarfer when she released a job report Trump didn’t like

Yo Archives, remember your claims that private Universities couldn't compete in the N.I.L. game? Interesting to see how this is playing out. Now admittedly 'SC has been slow to participate, but now we are all in (and assuming we don't blow this season) have the #1 recruiting class in 2026. (A girl I was friend's with in school, her son is a top 50 recruit next year and is part of the class. I'm old.)

SMU was playing the N.I.L. game at a high level in the '80's before it was legal. But look at them making the playoffs last year. They have boosters with a lot of money for whom football is important.

Miami isn't going back to their dynasty run but they play the N.I.L. game as well and will drop some bags.

It's only been a couple of years, but my how the dynamics have changed since the SEC can't drop bigger bags like they had been. That advantage is gone.

Private schools who choose to can compete in this environment.

And what's up with your City man? About to elect a socialist? What I don't understand is why Cuomo was the establishment's choice. Yes he has name recognition but please... And the worst part, as Governor he signed the 2019 Tenant Protection Act which of course caused real estate prices to rise. Now ironically a socialist is going to get elected as a result, and also ironically the real estate interests have to turn to Cuomo to defeat Zohran.

Zohran isn't wrong to talk about real estate prices being too high but he's proposing to double down on the policies that are causing them to rise. Hey, it's democracy if this is what the people want. But it doesn't make a lot of sense.

It's easy to understand what is wrong with New York. The same stupid voters you have in San Fran. :palm:

The United States was never a democracy.
You ARE correct that price controls (including rent controls) always cause shortages (and corresponding increase in prices if the shortage is a product or service).

Both are in the ACC, and SMU didn’t last long in the playoffs, hard to deny that other than Notre Dame, no private school has, nor will, progress in the playoffs, including USC, if I am not mistaken, USC is projected to finish mid pack at best

NIL could level off some off the talent, second stringers aren’t going sit on big programs bench when the transfer rules allow easy movement, but unless private equity gets involved, the State schools will prevail, the one supper conference is coming

And, as I predicted, it is no longer college football, not even semi pro, straight professionalism now, only connection to education is name only

Even though I am there often, I don’t live in NYC, and it’s the Big Apple, LaGuardia, one of his most famous Mayors, was a Democrat Socialist, it moves on on its own

Zohran won’t upset the apple cart, unlike Murdoch’s portrayal, he’s not Lenin, coming in with radical change that is going chase money interests out of the City
