The countries that were most successful in combatting COVID were ones that had decisive, coherent and immediate messaging and response. Those were mostly Asian and SE Asian countries. Immediate lockdowns, isolation centers for those who could not isolate alone, consistent and coherent messages about vaccines, etc., on a NATIONAL level.

That was anything but the US.

True. Not only was the #OrangeMenace putting out conflicting misinformation, he was also threatening blue states with witholding medical equipment like vents, remember that? Future students of epidemiology will be studying 2020 as how NOT to handle a public health emergency.

It is, isn't it? Basically they are busybodies who think that they have the right to tell others what to do/not do and to interfere with how they live their lives because they think they know better than you what's good for you. The fake "teacher" excels at this, as you've no doubt noticed.

If I was a teacher forced to teach Bible passages in a public school classroom, I'd be finding those admonitions of Christ to present. You know, the stuff about loving others as you love yourself. Not judging others. Giving to the poor. Feeding and clothing those who have little. Welcoming strangers to your community. Following god rather than money. The story of the Good Samaritan would be especially appropriate for MAGAT children.

I have mixed emotions about not REQUIRING school kids to have vaccines. I suspect some irresponsible parents or "new age" parents will not get MMR and varicella vaccines and we will see out beaks in schools like when I was a kid. The present day young parent population has no memory of the measles and chicken pox epidemics before we required vaccines for school. On the other side I understand not requiring people to inject medications into their bodies if they don't want to. So I have mixed emotions about dropping the require to be vaccinated in order to attend public school. Ultimately I come down in favor of requiring vaccines for public schools but giving school vouchers so parents can take their kids to private schools that may not require vaccines if they want feel strongly about vaccines.

Sad but true, the goal.. make the poor less likely to be able to improve their situation, so the wealthy can cement status for generations, regardless of the competency of their children.

Doctors and schools are still going to advise that vaccinations are the safest way to go.... And provide The reasoning behind it.... Parents just want reassurance about a subject that can be a little confusing at times... If a parrot is antivax they're probably home or private schooling anyway...

We have some great vaccines, which you want to throw away for your "prayer" for better vaccines? Really? How would it be developed without scientists?

We wiped out Smallpox, and nearly wiped out Polio. We save the lives of about a million children a year. And you want to throw all that away for prayers?

Republicans have already decided that everything must be decided by Republican politicians, not doctors or schools.
