I agree that any is too many. It's disgusting.

But the characterization of "plenty" referring to prominent Democrats is wrong. It just adds gas to the fire.

I've seen a lot of that in the reaction. The shooter became a "they" - not in the LGBTQ sense, but in the sense of representing millions of people. And it is suddenly okay for many on the right to use "DemonRats" and say that they are ALL evil. And yes, I have seen that all over.

Isn't it ironic that people are getting "Canceled" for speaking unpleasant things about a man who made his living, in part, speaking unpleasant things.

So Charlie's memory is further sullied by his admirers disavowing the right to Free Speech.

I appreciate your always civil and thoughtful replies....I'm going to stick with the plenty of prominent Democrats... Because they
Do add gas to the fire.... someone can't say "i'm sorry that he was killed but...." Some have been very respectful, but the ones who have not
Are much louder than those...

How is the cheering of Kirks death any different than using the N-word in emails, celebrating the death of MLK, or a thousand other things that would instantly get a conservative fired?

You of the left are used to being immune to the rules you created.

No..if you have no problem with a man being assassinated for expressing his thoughts, don't cry when you get fired for expressing yours...
These people have a right to free speech... and employers have a right to expect those who work for them to have standards that won't harm the business...they can fight their firing in court if they feel their employers are being unfair...
 
I do not think there is anything resembling a 'conservative' in government any more on the right.

The right are magats and they are cultists who have one singular belief and that is 'whatever Trump says we need to believe, even if it changes daily, is our belief'.

They prove that every day as any prior foundational belief (freer trade, keep government to minimal role in our lives and business, keep taxes low, groomers and pedophiles are bad and need to by punished, etc) is just tossed out and they take the opposite view celebrating massive tax impositions, having government invasively in peoples personal lives and businesses, and not just turning a blind eye to groomers and pedophiles but being ok with rewarding them.

So no TS the magats do not care about Kirk or message beyond it being another knife to use in politics. If Trump turns sour on him tomorrow they will too.

I have a huge problem with someone being assassinated for expressing their thoughts. Unlike Charlie I think it is a tragedy beyond rational thought.

If you don't see the irony for throttling free speech about a man who made his living pushing free speech to its limits then I can't really help you.

If you hated Charlie then definitely stand against free speech in this manner.
