It was economic in the sense of threats by the FCC. Kimmel’s ratings were not that bad, less than July’s, but still competitive with other late night talk shows

We all know Kimmel held the wrath of the President, and that both Trump and Carr threatened to pull ABC’s license. With the Nexstar Media Group, who show broadcast a considerable number of ABC affiliates, need for approval from the FCC to acquire their latest merger, the screws were applied

Wait to see who gets approval to buy Tic Toc, don’t be surprised if it is Ellison. All part of a orchestrated media take over

I can't speak to the idea that it's some coordinated media take over. I know the Tik Tok talks have been going since 2020 I believe. I've heard Ellison's name associated with it as well but I'm not aware of it being a sudden take over plan.

this is a fair analogy of the shitty behavior of people like Jimmy Kimmel


someone suffered from violence. he could of kept quiet. he could of shown remorse

instead he chose to attack those that cared for the victim. to insult them. to belittle them. and to lie about the facts - or maybe he was ignorant - still a good reason to remove his voice

Not so sure, the handwriting is on the wall.

The story goes that Bannon told Trump when he was first elected that the Democrats were not his competitor but rather the media was, and, if you look at who is the only entity that seriously challenges Trump today, it isn’t the Democrats, the GOP, the SCOTUS, social network, but the media, control them, and you control the ballgame

Conspiratorial, sure, but I and my family have dual citizenship, so I ain’t worried, besides AI is going to devour us all sooner or later

And Kimmel was not commenting on the tragedy, nor Kirk, he didn’t attack anyone, rather he was commenting on the right’s efforts to quickly paint the nut job who shot him

Limbaugh was not on the government regulated 4 networks

how hard is it for people to get that? those entities were granted a monopoly, but have to serve the public interest to continue to be afforded that great privilege

I don’t disagree about the power of the media, and I get why people like Bannon frame it that way. I just can’t get there thinking all those things add up to one coordinated effort to take control.

On AI, it’s wild how fast it’s shifting things. In SF it’s driving the office market and housing recovery. Lawyers say it’s replacing work young associates used to do, and in my field it’s taking over a lot of analyst work. Things are moving quickly.

The FCC made no official moves on Kemmil. I think the stations had better use of his time slot
