It is a vaccine. It creates an immune response, which is the same mechanism as every other vaccine.
Ivermectin works great deworming both humans and horses. American humans do not have much trouble with worms, so not much need for it here. In other countries, humans have greater problems with worms, and those worm infections hurt their Covid treatment.
