They weren’t facts at the time, no one knew who or anything about the shooter, and even the Governor of Utah explained the meaning on the inscribed bullets, but that did not stop many on the right by portraying the unknown shooter as a transvestite among other things

"Disrespectful"? I think the issue is that suggesting he was other than a radical leftist living with a trans lover who assassinated Charlie for his opinions is a simple and very deliberate lie. And I think they may be saying that trying to gaslight large numbers of Americans into such a fabrication is not in the best interest of Americans. You'd have to ask ABC, they were the ones that fired him. I doubt it was for disrespect though.
