And it's interesting given how Erica Kirk came out swinging in the days after Charlie's tragic demise. I'm glad she took a concilliatory tone because at first I didn't think she was going to.

She has absolute control of Turning Point now, and if she decides to take that platform away from the path of hate and division, Charlie had it on, and instead use it to push Christianity and forgiveness and reconciliation in an attempt to really help the young men, then i think she will be attacked by magats.

No, but every Christian should. For us Christians, forgiving isn't just about those who need forgiveness, but also about creating peace of mind and not letting anyone own that much of your mind. Trump, as well as others show they are far from Christians.

I agree forgiveness is central to Christianity, and it brings peace of mind as much as it helps the other person. But I also know it’s easier said than done.

I go back to the two friends I mentioned earlier. Both are politically liberal Christian women I went to church with. Each of them posted Erica Kirk’s comments about forgiving the killer on Instagram, and neither added political commentary. I was moved not just by Kirk's words, but also by the way my friends shared them as a simple moment of grace.

It's cool that Ms. Kirk opted to go the route of "forgiveness", but it still sits poorly given her "guns ablazin'" speech a couple days after the tragedy where she vowed to fight on for Charlie etc. Different people grieve in different ways.

But MAGA in the larger sense will never opt for "forgiveness" as that would render Charlie's sacrifice "meaningless". Charlie, regardless of how decent a person he may or may not have been, has value to MAGA as a "martyr". It could literally have been the most unknown College Republican and they would have elevated him to saint status after the shooting. The important part of Charlie's life was not his "message" (it can be found in any Young Republican gathering) but rather the nature of his horrific death.

That's the value to MAGA and as such has to be nursed as a "forever grievance" for them.
