Which will last longer. The lettuce head or this Comey prosecution?

Yup, Trump DoJ are already doing everything they can to try and stall the Comey case, claiming, they are not ready ... it is complex and ...will have lots of classified materials, etc and that is because they know it is likely to get dismissed and they want to drag it out as long as they can prior. The judge is having none of that, because when the accused wants a speedy trial that is their right. The Prosecution, by default, is supposed to not indict until they are ready, so they should never be the ones (and never are) seeking delays.

The judge showed great skepticism that a case like this based on one public statement to Congress and with a two page, two count indictment could be complex and said he plans to move with the speed his rocket docket is known for.

Comey asked for trial Jan 12th. Prosecution wanted it later. Judge said Jan 5. Speedy trial requirements would have made it Dec trial.

Yup. Defense normally wants some delays and in this case the defense has pointed out that the Prosecution has not even identified yet, what the actual statements are that constitute the crime so they cannot even begin to properly prepare until they do that.

The Prosecution asking for delays is the real outlier here as typically the expectation is they are 'ready for trial' when they indict, other than some organization and presentation practice.

McCabe - I told him AFTER i submitted the docs and not before

Comey - I stand by that i did not AUTHORIZE him to submit the docs.

Senator Cruz - based on what McCabe said did you AUTHORIZE the leak of the docs and information? Because both these things cannot be true. If McCabe indeed told you AFTER that is the same you AUTHORIZING, at least by magat logic, anyway. Therefore this is lying to Congress.

The Judge has set the Trial date of Jan 5th but Comey Counsel has indicated they will file motions to dismiss in the coming weeks.

My OP speaks to once the case starts or, if prior, when motions begin to be heard.

No one thinks anything happens in the months and sometimes years a case can take to get to court and makes any bets within that time frame. I was speaking to how fast it would kicked either if the trial started or the Motions get heard.

I do admit one mistake here which is saying just above that "...no one thinks anything happens in the months and sometimes years a case can take to get to court..." because i do think some magats are in fact that stupid and will argue that take.
