Gaza peace plan & Trump-lovers: spiking the football way too early

Whatever suffering by the so called Palestinians, was brought upon themselves when they chose a terrorist group, Hamas, financed by a state sponsor of terrorism, Iran, to be their representative government.

Now, it will be Israel and America, not Hamas or Hezbollah or Iran, who will feed these people.

Netanyahu is reportedly being pressured by Trump to release Palestinian prisoners who were responsible for terrorist attacks -- that's how badly Trump's ego and quest for a Nobel prize are driving this thing.
“Reportable.”

Meanwhile, in real time, President Trump is being honored in Jerusalem for bringing the hostages home and for peace in the ME.

Trump peace plan for Gaza could be just a 'pause' before Hamas strikes again, experts warn

"If Hamas doesn’t disarm, we won’t have to wait years ...Things could reignite within weeks,' says leading analyst

The emerging Gaza peace framework crafted by President Donald Trump could reshape regional dynamics, but analysts warn that unless Hamas is fully stripped of its weapons and power, this will amount to little more than a pause for the terrorist group before it renews conflict.

Dr. Michael Milshtein, head of the Moshe Dayan Forum at Tel Aviv University and one of Israel’s foremost experts on Hamas, says any plan that assumes the group will dissolve misunderstands its nature.

"Forget words like peace and coexistence — that won’t happen," he told Fox News Digital. Hamas leaders, he explained, have made clear they will not accept an international mandate or a Tony Blair-style trusteeship. "They’re prepared to let a cosmetic Palestinian administration run daily affairs, but Hamas will operate behind the scenes, like Hezbollah in Lebanon."

As I said Israel has said Hamas HAS to give up all their guns or it won't work well I don't see that happening any time soon.
They will get their people back and go right back to killing more Israelis.
Hamas is not to be trusted.

Always interesting to see LWers actually cheer AGAINST peace or any other good news. A window into who they really are. For them,....EVERYTHING is seen thru the lens of politics. Right or wrong has no bearing whatsoever when it comes to politics or any other issue.
Incredible. They’re disappointed there’s been no hurricanes to hit the u.s. this season but hoping it will still happen.
They’re disappointed the border is under control. They’re disappointed the Israeli hostages are home. They’re disappointed the war in Gaza is over.
It goes on and on.
WTF ?

I don't see Hamas ever agreeing to disarm, and I don't see them ever agreeing to an interim international commission chaired by Trump to run Gaza administratively. Those are proposals TrumpCo. put on the table.

Hamas is probably stringing Trump along, knowing how badly he wants a Nobel, but they have every intention of continuing to run Gaza from the background.
There barely is a background. Gaza is leveled and it's not credible that Hamas still has civilian support for more aggression.

When has Hamas listened to civilians, rather than sticking with their own agenda?

Cities can be rebuilt, for example Germany after WW2. The Soviets fought for every square inch of Stalingrad, even though it was a pile of rubble. Its the people that matter more than buildings.

Hamas had an "agenda", or so it thought, on October 7. Since then it's only agenda has been to stay alive. Tens of thousands of Palestinian kids and other civilians have not been so lucky. It's obviously time, way past time. for the mayhem to stop.

I would like to see the violence end.

But I think we misunderstood the terrorist mindset if we expect them to cave to civilian pressure. For one thing, I've seen no consistent and reliable evidence that civilians in Gaza are in open revolt against Hamas, or even that Hamas has been massively bleeding support. If anything, the sheer scale of the violence may have driven Hamas' ability to recruit disaffected men.

It's more an end of civilian support than caving to pressure. Anyway, there isn't a sane alternative.

hey look - shit stains are smearing the shit around.

Hamas gets what they deserve.

Around 100,000 Gazans dead. Around 20,000 children. Another 170,000 or so wounded. Starvation. A country completely leveled. And Trump was going to end this on day one.

Pretty much only one way to go, cultist, and that’s up. That is, unless you want another few tens of thousands to die.
What did Brandon do over his four years to help? Oh that's right not a fucking thing.
