"The mortgage fraud investigation into New York Attorney General Letitia James is at a standstill because federal agents and prosecutors don’t believe they have enough evidence to get a conviction if the case were to go to trial, two senior federal law enforcement officials told NBC News on Wednesday."

Oh, no! You mean the railroading isn't working? Poor vindictive little twump!

But the white house is saying, "FUCK THAT, IF YOU CAN'T FIND ANY EVIDENCE, MAKE SHIT UP LIKE WE'RE DOING WITH COMEY!"

"The White House and several top administration officials, however, have continued to push the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia to seek an indictment against James, who brought a civil fraud case against Donald Trump after his first term as president."

MSNBC is reporting that the top prosecutor of major crimes in Eastern Virginia is telling colleagues she won't prosecute Letitia James because there is no evidence of fraud.

Elizabeth Yusi, who oversees major criminal prosecutions in the Norfolk office of the Eastern District of Virginia, has confided to co-workers that she sees no probable cause to believe James engaged in mortgage fraud, the two sources told MSNBC. Yusi plans to present her conclusion to the president’s new interim U.S. attorney, Lindsey Halligan, in the coming weeks, they said.
Prosecutors in the Eastern District are now bracing for Yusi to be fired for her own resistance to try a case that many lawyers have said lacks sufficient evidence, according to the two people.

It amazes me how Republicans aren't even blinking at this disgusting waste of public resources - I thought they were all against "waste, fraud, and abuse"?

As an attorney, she knew well that she was committing fraud by declaring the Norfollk home as a secondary residence. It was stupid for two reasons:
1. She should have at least made an attempt to reside there part time
2. She should never have prosecuted Trump for something no AG would bother with had Trump not been president knowing full well she had committed fraud herself.
Now it's going to cost her more in legal fees than any amount she saved had she gotten away with fraud.
Stupid.

As the saying goes, 'don't throw stones if you live in a glass house'.
She should've expected this.

The evidence is practically slam dunk.

Sure enuf, he was indicted. If there was lack of evidence that couldn't have happened.

Total waste of taxpayers money, on this real witch hunt?!!

What? The feds can't just force her to accept a bench trial in front of a judge that openly hates her and will exclude exculpatory evidence on a whim? What's our justice system coming to?

The fraud you are talking about his yet to be proven, all just accusations at this point, and accusations don’t prove guilt

I guess DOJ never thought of that, or perhaps there is an issue with your facts. I suspect it’s the latter.

Well duh. Of course she’s innocent until proven guilty. That’s why there will be a trial. :palm:

However,
On 2020 New York ethics forms, James reported $1,000–$5,000 in “rental income” from the property.

• Federal tax returns treated it as “rental real estate,” claiming deductions for expenses while reporting rents received.
• She informed her insurer it was “owner-occupied,” contradicting the rental use.
Actual Use:
• The home has been continuously occupied by her grandniece, Nakia Thompson (age 36), and Thompson’s three children since 2020—shortly after purchase

We shall see at trial.
But like I said , don’t throw stones if you live in a glass house.
If proven she did commit fraud, it was incredibly stupid for her to go after Trump . But the plan was not for him to get elected.

It's a waste of resources. Like Comey's railroad attempt, it's going to get thrown out before it even starts.
