During a segment on Thursday, Leavitt was asked about New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani (D) and his refusal to directly answer whether Hamas should disarm in Gaza. Rather than keep her response focused, she used it as a springboard to go scorched earth on the entire Democratic Party.

Without skipping a beat, Leavitt declared:
“This is the Democrat Party’s base: Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, and violent criminals. That is who the Democrat Party is catering to. Not the Trump administration and not the White House and not the Republican Party, who is standing up for law-abiding Americans, not just across the country but around the world.”
It didn’t take long for backlash to explode across social media and beyond.

The language, described by many as incendiary and outright dangerous, sparked immediate calls for Leavitt to resign. Critics pointed out that lumping Democrats in with terrorists and criminals isn’t just reckless—it’s a deliberate attempt to inflame division and stir up hate.
“This kind of rhetoric isn’t just irresponsible, it’s f**king dangerous,” one user wrote. “You’re calling half the country terrorists.”
Another added, “This isn’t politics. It’s sick. It’s grossly dark. It’s meant to turn neighbor against neighbor.”

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) also weighed in, calling out the damage being done to everyday Americans by this kind of divisive language.
“Most Republicans are good people. Most Democrats are good people. The White House says outrageous things to make you hate your neighbor. Your neighbor isn’t the problem. The White House is,” he posted on X.
Leavitt, for her part, hasn’t backed down. She doubled down later in the same segment, suggesting that only the GOP is defending “law-abiding Americans,” while Democrats pander to chaos.
But that spin is falling flat outside MAGA media circles. Even some on the right found her choice of words indefensible, with one conservative commentator calling the comments “insane” and “an embarrassing stain on what should be serious political discourse.”

The clip has since gone viral, drawing millions of views and sparking heated debate over the limits of political rhetoric in a time when tensions in the U.S. are already running high. The fact that these comments came from the White House press secretary has only added fuel to the fire.
Calls for her resignation have only grown louder, with hashtags like #KarolineMustResign and #UnfitToServe trending late into the night.
