Americans brace for food stamps to run out: ‘The greatest hunger catastrophe since the Great Depression’

Ah, I finally got Stone researching. Good on him.

No, William "Bill the Butcher" Poole was not Irish — he was of English descent and born in Sussex County, New Jersey in 1821.

🧾 Ethnicity and Religion

  • Ethnicity: English-American. His parents were immigrants from England.
  • Religion: While his exact denomination isn't clearly documented, Poole was a nativist and part of the Know Nothing movement, which was strongly anti-Catholic and aligned with Anglo-Saxon Protestant values. So it's likely he identified as Protestant, but not Irish Protestant.

🥊 Political and Gang Affiliation

  • He led the Bowery Boys, a gang known for its anti-Irish and anti-Catholic stance.
  • He was a prominent figure in the Know Nothing Party, which opposed immigration and Catholic influence in American politics.
So while he may have shared some religious views with Irish Protestants, he was not Irish and was actively hostile to Irish immigrants, especially Catholics.

Diogenes is caught out.

That statement [of Diogenes] is a highly partisan opinion, not an objective fact. Let's break it down with context and evidence:

  • Yes, many Democratic-aligned individuals and organizations are involved in philanthropy. Wealthy donors like George Soros (Open Society Foundations) and the Gates Foundation (though nonpartisan) support progressive causes.
  • These foundations are tax-exempt, as are most nonprofits, regardless of political leaning. Conservative donors also fund large networks of tax-exempt organizations (e.g., the Koch network, Heritage Foundation).

  • Unlikely. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) serves over 40 million Americans annually, with a federal budget of over $100 billion.
  • Even the largest private charities (like Feeding America) acknowledge that government programs provide far more food assistance than private donations can match.
  • Experts argue that charity alone cannot solve food insecurity. Structural issues like low wages, housing costs, and healthcare access are major drivers.
  • This is a subjective and politically charged claim. While some high-profile fundraisers and galas may seem extravagant, many foundations do fund substantial anti-poverty, education, and health initiatives.
  • Criticism of elite philanthropy exists across the spectrum — including concerns about lack of transparency, tax avoidance, or undue political influence — but it's not exclusive to one party or ideology.

🧾 Bottom Line

  • The scale of poverty and food insecurity in the U.S. is immense, and no private network—Democratic or Republican—can replace federal programs like SNAP.
  • The claim that Democrats “don’t want to feed the poor” is a political accusation, not a substantiated fact. Many Democratic policies (e.g., expanding child tax credits, increasing minimum wage, boosting SNAP) are aimed at reducing poverty, though their effectiveness is debated.

In other words, man, try again.

Tell that to the disabled and single mothers.
Like the Orange Dictator himself, MAGAts couldn't care less. This is why I believe no mercy should be shown to them during the civil war.

Those three votes will push the rate back to pre-Covid levels.

The poor are poorer since then.
When was the last time insurance was affordable and offered great coverage, Not Jake from State Farm? And three votes will push back the coverage for so many who don't actually deserve the benefits...and allow for adjustments and better plans for those who do qualify...

Didn't have to research it at all,....I put it up for YOU. I happened to watch a documentary on him a few years back, pretty interesting. Think it was on History channel. Interestingly enuff,...his main rival Jim Morrisey " portrayed as priest Valon" the leader of the dead rabbits was NOTHING like he was portrayed in the movie. Pretty dishonorable guy,....in the first dust up he tried to get Poole from behind in a bar fight,....Poole ended up beating his ass anyway. In fact Poole beat the hell out of him a couple of times.....LOL.

Stone has to research. He is working now at the asylum, changing water and folding towels. They let him fill the tampon machine, all of which makes him feel empowered.
You don't have the personality to be a comic,....give it up,...its not for you. Not everyone can be as entertaining as me! :ROFLMAO:
