“Them” vs “Us” cult

Hello TOW,

It should be noted that white men still earn more in America than everybody else. The Great White [Male] Replacement is simply not happening. If it was, white men would not be earning the most.

White [male] privilege still goes a long way.

It sure does, but apparently we are not supposed to talk about that. They know it's true, though. That's why they are fighting against affirmative action, "woke," DEI.

Their math goes like this: For every qualified non-straight-non-Christian non-white (fe)male who's hired for a position, a far more deserving white guy loses out. This cannot be allowed.

Good and it shows. MAGAts are drawn to the Dark Side just like they are drawn to their Dark Lord. IDK why they hate so much and seek to divide our nation.

I'm starting to see Nifty's point that they need their own country where they can stroke each other and live without fear of anyone not like them.

Pale Blue Dot.
I really liked watching Carl Sagan's shows just as I do Neil deGrasse Tyson. Tyson's Amazing Meeting videos are a good listen. https://www.youtube.com/@AmazingMeetingVideos/videos

If ignorance is bliss, I can understand why you’re happy.
Still waiting. Prove me wrong.

Illegals have civil rights as listed in the Bill of Rights.
If ignorance is bliss, why are so many MAGAts always so angry???

Agreed on the rights of everyone, regardless of citizenship, who is in the US. This explains both why illegals from Cuba who reach shore have rights while those captured on the water do not and why terrorists were sent to GITMO or foreign Black Sites instead of being brought to the US.

Correct

All of the above and more. They are cultists, as well. They got sucked into a narrative by a charismatic charlatan and were convinced he was going to make their lives better. Stooges. Pawns.
Which supports the theory that MAGA, like QAnon, is a cult. In the case of MAGA, a cult of personality.

Support from a “personality cult”—something his would-be successors lack—has, we believe, been essential for Trump’s political success. In new research, we argue that there is an identifiable hard core of extremely loyal Trump supporters that comprise his personality cult. Members of such a cult show unquestioning loyalty to a strong leader, such as Argentina’s Juan and Eva Perón or Italy’s Benito Mussolini, whom they perceive as infallible and truthful. Their devotion has religious parallels as they consider their leader a savior with unique ability to protect society against internal or external threats. Trump has himself embraced such a status in relation to his followers in statements such as “I am your voice” and “I alone can fix it,” both of which he declared at the 2016 Republican convention.

Trump’s followers are often referred to as a personality cult. Republican former representative Liz Cheney lamented that her party had “embraced Donald Trump [and] embraced his cult of personality” after her 2022 defeat by a Trump-backed candidate. Mainstream news media often refer to the idea of a personality cult in connection with Trump, but until now there has been little discussion of the idea by political scientists.

Personality cults are commonly associated with authoritarian systems, where a strong leader sits atop a regime with strict control of public information. It may therefore seem surprising to find this level of loyalty to a former president in the U.S. However, we identify a group of cultlike Trump followers by their loyalty and personality characteristics. We suggest that commanding such a personality cult lets Trump succeed, where other U.S. right-wing populists fail.

It's the same old stuff, you know? Black people were physically attacked for simply wanting the same rights as white people. (The NERVE of them!) Some of them were killed to make very public and ominous examples out of them. Found hanging in trees as a warning.

You would think taking away the "white's only" signs caused them physical pain. So ugly was their racism they would form and join secret organizations to try to figure out how to preserve racial discrimination. They lost that battle and have been looking for ways to preserve racism ever since.

They fought against the Civil Rights movement. The racists left the Democratic party. The Republican party became the home of racism. And then the Women's Liberation movement came along and the racist male chauvinists went ballistic. They have handed down their hatred to their children who have stood up for hatred. It has been redirected at immigrants and government.

It is pathetic and shameful, but still they pass it along from one generation to the next. All because they are insecure and afraid to treat people as equals. It takes younger people rejecting the hatred of their own parents to break that cycle. They have to be bold and make new friends their parents will not approve of. They have want to have a better life than their parents. They have to want to live in harmony with others and recognize that all people deserve respect and dignity. They have to understand racism and chauvinism are weaknesses and shameful limiting undesirable qualities. Sometimes the next generation does know better than their parents. We need more people breaking that mold.

Well said. Have you noticed that the minority groups who are demonized seems to change from generation to generation? Black people used to be the main targets when we were growing up. Now it's Hispanics. Gays were vilified for decades; now it's trans people. Many Xtians seem to hate everyone who isn't also of their sect -- atheists, Muslims, Jews, even Catholics.

It's almost as if hate is inborn in us and we have to struggle to overcome it. A lot of people never manage.

Some people need to hate others in order to feel better about themselves. JPP MAGAts exemplify this behavior daily.

So very very and sadly true. The Republikkkan motto was coined by LBJ:

“If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”

A great illustration of this is the Steven Bannon scam to get MAGATs to donate to "build the wall."

The Republican Party took a dark turn with the Southern Strategy.

Good point about Bannon. What continues to amaze me is not just how many MAGAts support the pardons of obvious criminals and scumbags, but how many are willing to drop their pants and bend over for a repeat performance. Weird!
