It's a Japanese sect. None of that having to do yoga poses while smacked with a board stuff. Many of the members are descendants of Nissi who were interned in WW 2. Weirdly it's in the middle of a now industrial district that grew up around it.

Could be. Weirder things have happened. That aside, I like the whole philosophy of it. It's very flexible and you get to choose what you want to accept and believe. I like the idea we get another chance at things (reincarnation / Isekai). Christian 'heaven' seems like a really dull place where you never get a challenge because everything is handed to you no questions asked.
