Are Trump's Tariffs a Good Thing?

If tariffs don't work then why are 170 other countries tariffing the United States?

The people (leftists) are telling us that Trump is wrong about tariffs......were 100% wrong about inflation,
jabs, Ukraine, law and order, immigration, bailouts, etc......don't even bother listening to them, they want
their USAID money back.

The Trump tariffs will replace federal income tax, rebuild manufacturing, reinforce the dollar, and reshape
a new era of prosperity.
 
Tariffs have limited and specific uses. There are no other countries doing blanket tariffs like Daffy Donald. None are targeting the world at one time. Economists told Trump tariffs are inflationary. The economy has demonstrated that clearly and undeniably. The cost of living (inflation) has been climbing steadily since daffy Donld started manhandling tariffs,. Trump does not understand them. You know less than he does.

Tariffs can help certain and workers at the expense of everyone else. Politicians use them to curry favor with those specific workers, despite their overall negative effects.

Biden basically kept all of Tump’s tariffs in place while adding some of his own. Were they not inflationary? Did Biden not understand them either?

We’re on year 8 of this tariff storm and the results have been no bueno. Keep holding your breath OP, that tariff prosperity is just around the corner…

They were inflationary during Biden too. Biden lost because people felt the prices rising. He had few tools in his toolbox to cut it down. Trump has gone the other way. His actions are accelerating inflation. Trump's way is to say there is no inflation, prices are dropping bigly. Believe me, I would not lie to you.

Everything I said in the OP is happening right now and in the near future to help America extend its spot as the most
prosperous nation on earth, and Trump's tariffs are only fueling that mission. Inflation is and has coming down from the
9% it was under biden. Cost of living is also coming down, as is the price of gas et al.

Foreign countries like China subsidize their industries like steel. They dumb their low cost steel on our market and have decimated our stell industry. Having a vital steel industry is a national security issue . So is making our own chips and medication. Trump correct to try to return manufacturing to the US.

I get the appeal of standing up to China and this idea that tariffs will help bring manufacturing jobs back.

The economic reality is that it pushes prices higher, slowed growth and after almost eight years is not bringing manufacturing jobs back. Nor are there any indications that will change anytime soon.

We have taken in over 200 billion and inflation is lower than in the previous administration. This isn't just about "standing up to China" it is about making the things we need and not being a dependent nation.. The Atlanta Fed predicts a 3rd quarter GDP of 4.2%

I go back to the argument that tariffs are supposed to bring manufacturing jobs back. We’ve had them in effect for 7 years and the data doesn’t support that argument.

The slow growth we’ve experienced and high inflation and increased costs is not solely caused by tariffs by any means, but it’s a definite contributor. And the Atlanta Fed’s current projection for the 3rd quarter doesn’t change that fact.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, they generated the next best thing to nothing but have successfully raised the inflation rate and the unemployment rate not to mention scaring off all our trade partners.

And the tariffs haven't even broken the $200 billion mark, much less trillions.
