GREENBELT, Md. (AP) — A federal judge in Maryland ordered Kilmar Abrego Garcia freed from immigration detention on Thursday while his legal challenge against his deportation moves forward.

ICE will not do it.
If I were the guy doing stuff on this at ICE I'd release him. I'd also watch Garcia like a hawk. If he tries to get a job, arrest him and charge him with that felony. ID? Same thing. Garcia might have to be released but that doesn't entitle him to be able to get ID, a job, travel, etc. Make things worse for him and blame that on this idiot judge.

He is allowed to do everything that is allowed to him.

What can an illegal immigrant do released as he goes through hearings?

Most people released from ICE custody—whether on bond, parole, or recognizance—are allowed to:

They are not confined. They can reside at an address of their choosing, though they must keep ICE and the immigration court updated with any address changes. This is consistent with the fact that many immigrants historically have been released on bond while their cases proceed.

They must appear for:
  • Master Calendar Hearings (initial scheduling and rights advisement)
  • Merits hearings (where their case is decided)
Missing a hearing can result in an automatic removal order.

They have the right to hire an attorney at their own expense and to consult legal aid organizations.Master Calendar Hearings specifically inform them of this right.

Depending on their situation, they may apply for:

  • Asylum
  • Withholding of removal
  • Protection under the Convention Against Torture
  • Cancellation of removal
  • Adjustment of status (in limited cases)
Not everyone qualifies immediately. But asylum applicants, for example, may apply for work authorization after meeting the statutory waiting period.]
They can travel domestically, but:

  • They must keep ICE informed of their address
  • They must stay reachable for check‑ins
  • Travel near ports of entry or airports can risk additional scrutiny
Depending on the release terms, they may have:

  • Check‑ins
  • Electronic monitoring
  • Reporting requirements
These conditions vary by case. This is where your forum thread comes into play—some posters were speculating incorrectly.

A released immigrant cannot:

They need an approved Employment Authorization Document (EAD).Working without authorization is a separate violation.

Some states allow undocumented residents to obtain limited‑purpose driver’s licenses; others do not.

Failure to appear leads to a removal order.

Release from detention does not grant legal immigration status. It only means they are not being held while the case proceeds.

The search results show that courts sometimes require ICE to release people because:
  • ICE policies improperly denied bond eligibility
  • Courts ruled that immigrants have the right to request bond hearings again

I don't see, be employed or obtain ID on that list... If it were me, he wouldn't be getting an employment authorization anything. If I can't stop that, I'd foot drag the process out, nickel and diming him into insanity.

Also, I'd make damn sure to schedule every check-in, and all reporting requirements to be at the worst time possible under the most onerous conditions.

If you make sure he can't support himself and can't do stuff requiring legal ID, you pretty much fuck his life over. Let his pubic pretender or wife support him 100% while he awaits trial and deportation.

Got yourself a right-wing propaganda and harassment campaign all figured out eh?

But it is not you. You have no importance at all to his existence. You and your feelings don't matter to him.

@T. A. Gardner, this is from the Buddhist website you linked:

" May no one deceive or look down on anyone anywhere, for any reason. Whether through feeling angry or through reacting to someone else, may no one want another to suffer. May all beings be happy."
Where did I seek to deceive or look down on anyone in this? I simply said that the rules / laws, as they stand be applied in the narrowest manner possible that affects Garcia negatively. That is, give him the minimum he has coming under law and watch for him to step over the legal line very closely. That is neither anger nor neglect. It is a rigid application of the law as written applied to a person.

In that case you could have worded it better. Your posts show that you want to see Garcia suffer, contrary to your alleged Buddhist belief.
