dec 13 2025 A Georgia woman suffered severe burns to her face and body after being doused with a toxic chemical during what authorities and family members have described as a random attack while she was walking through a public park in Savannah.

Ashley Wasielewski, 46, was walking laps around Forsyth Park on Wednesday night when the attack occurred.
According to friends and family, Wasielewski had earlier attended a Christmas program at a nearby church before heading to the park.

While she was walking, a stranger approached her from behind and poured a corrosive liquid over her head.
Those close to Wasielewski said the attack unfolded without warning.
As the liquid made contact with her skin, she began screaming as the chemical caused immediate and severe damage.
Emergency responders transported Wasielewski to the Augusta Burn Center, where she is being treated for extensive injuries.

According to her son, Westley, she suffered second- and third-degree burns over approximately half of her body.
