Clarification on Quote box altering.

It needs to be obvious. Changing a y to a v in the middle of the word isn't obvious. Changing Monad to Gonad probably would be though... Just sayin'.

This portion was the rule before, FTFY was added later because changing the name was more difficult with this software. The rule tells you to make it obvious, it always has since I first wrote it. Very, very few people seem to have trouble with this. Just make it obvious you are changing the name.

And since the definition of "obvious" is a problem. It means that I should be able to see with a glance that the person did not make the post themselves.
 
One thing that I will likely do is add a modification that will not allow you to post only quoted content with no other message. I do not want to make a rule stopping folks from making funny fake quotes. I just want them to be clearly obvious that they are fake.

Not really. Tons of folks post quotes with no message now. In vBulletin I was able to tell it not to allow that, in this software I have to create or purchase a mod to add to the board that will do that for me.

why are the arguments for NOT doing that?
